#BRWC10: Ten Film Podcast Recommendations

Soundtracking with Edith Bowman

9: Wrong Reel

Covering everything from Jean-Luc Goddard to Jean-Luc Picard, James Hancock is one of the most prolific and enthusiastic podcasters out there. Releasing several episodes a week, most of which are over 90 minutes, James is often joined by a rogue’s gallery of incredible film critics, podcasters and filmmakers. One day you might be listening to an episode on the birth of French New Wave, then next might cover Francis Ford Coppola’s adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992). Whatever your cinematic poison, there is definitely something on Wrong Reel for you.

10: We Hate Movies

I’m not ordinarily one for negativity when discussing movies. The idea of a show that lays big steaming poops on rubbish films may initially sound a little unsporting, but when these films include turkeys such as Die Another Day, Gone Fishin’, Suburban Commando and Ninja III: The Domination, I think it’s only fair. Blustery, silly and never actually mean-spirited, these four guys have developed something of a cult following with good reason.

Obviously, this is only my short-list. I regularly retweet episode recommendations over at @sddfilmpodcast. If you haven’t already, please check us out. On our show, we watch three films linked by a word in the title. Recently we covered a triple bill of FOX films.

Regular type person by day, film vigilante by night. Spent years as a 35mm projectionist (he got taller) and now he gets to watch and wax lyrical about all manner of motion pictures. Daryl has got a soft spot for naff Horror and he’d consider Anime to be his kryptonite.
