Who Doesn’t Love Empire Magazine?!

empire magazine

Empire Magazine was first established back in July of 1989. Almost thirty years of quality film reviews, features and banter.  It’s the bible for all film fans.  The fact you’re reading this means you must have an interest in films, and we love movies here at BRWC; we’re obviously huge lovers of Empire Magazine!  Empire is the world’s biggest movie magazine, each monthly issue delves into the world of commercial and art house cinema to bring you film reviews, features and set reports from world-class writers, critics, photographers and illustrators.

As with any quality publication, the online presence is there.  Check out the lush website and the great images on instagram.

We’ve covered some sweet Empire events here on the site over the years too.  Events such as The Empire Awards, which took place on Sunday 18 March, returning to London’s Camden Roundhouse.  The iconic awards celebrated the best in film and TV, voted for by genuine film fans, held at a star-studded event attended by some of the biggest and best-loved names in entertainment.

And don’t forget about Empire Live!  Back in 2016, the ultimate film and entertainment weekend took place at The O2 in London from 23 to 25 September, and it featured a live Trainspotting table read!

World renowned filmmaker Roland Emmerich guest edited the film magazine’s website too!  Emmerich is a hugely talented and respected filmmaker whose repertoire features some of the greatest blockbusters of all time including: Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, Stargate and Universal Soldier.  He commented:  “As a long-time friend of Empire and regular visitor to the website, I’m hugely excited about taking over the reins as Editor. If I ever get bored of film making, it could be a second career!”

The website’s great and all, I always prefer the tangible quality of the magazine.  I still pick up a copy before a plane, train or automobile journey.  Some of our witters have used it for research before a film screening or a press interview junket.  Always filled to the brim with great writing, interesting articles and thought provoking features.  We’ll be posting some images from some back copies on our twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts soon, so watch out for those!
