Bauer Media’s Empire website empireonline.com has announced today its first guest editor – world renowned filmmaker Roland Emmerich who will guest edit from the 13th – 17th June. Emmerich is a hugely talented and respected filmmaker whose repertoire features some of the greatest blockbusters of all time including: Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, Stargate and Universal Soldier.
Emmerich’s role as guest editor ties in with the release of the follow-up Independence Day film Independence Day: Resurgence which is out 23rd June in the UK.
Roland Emmerich commented:
“As a long-time friend of Empire and regular visitor to the website, I’m hugely excited about taking over the reins as Editor. If I ever get bored of filmmaking, it could be a second career!”

Previous guest editors of Empire magazine have included Lord of the Rings Director Peter Jackson who took the reins in November 2014 to celebrate the culmination of his Hobbit trilogy. Emmerich will guest edit EmpireOnline from 13th – 17th June. The magazine, which features Independence Day: Resurgence star Jeff Goldblum on the cover, is on sale 26th May.
