7. Alexei Sayle – Revelation Of The Daleks

An alien funeral home was the setting for a Gothic saga of satirical scares in this 1985 story starring Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor. Tranquil Repose turned out to be a breeding ground for a new generation of Daleks, with creator Davros using the bodies as raw material for his infernal death machines. The savage tone of Revelation contributed in part to the family show being taken off air for a rest, though there were lighter moments, notably Alexei Sayle in the role of the DJ.

Anarchic comedian Sayle was legendary as part of Eighties sitcom The Young Ones, where he had his own spot as wild man landlord Jerzy Balowski, as well as playing members of the Balowski family. The DJ was a deranged hospital radio presenter, broadcasting to the frozen residents of the home, who were awaiting cures for their various diseases. His parody of the media came to an abrupt end when he faced extermination helping the Time Lord against the psychotic pepperpots.
