Trailer Talk: June 2026

The past month has seen some recognizable titles return, as well as an interesting and original animated film.

An unexpected sequel is ‘Fall 2: Deadpoint’, which once again follows two solo climbers who become trapped and must figure out to survive the high altitudes that nature has to offer. While it belongs under the same umbrella as the fantastic 2022 horror ‘Fall’, this story has two new leads and a new location (a cliff side and plank walk). But it promises to be just as terrifying, as low angles and even POV shots return/are introduced even if the plot sounds similar to the first film. This looks just as nail bitingly tense as ‘Fall’ and will be coming to cinemas in September.

Another horror sequel that is awakening is ‘Evil Dead Burn’. Unlike ‘Fall: Deadpoint’, ‘Burn’ has been rumoured ever since the success of ‘Evil Dead Rise’ back in 2023 and is also making promises of its own. While it’s happy to bring the terror, it will also undoubtedly bring the buckets of blood and gore that it’s known for. And, judging from the trailer, it’s already aiming to be more brutal than the previous instalment. Not just that but, if this film is successful at the box office, the next entry ‘Evil Dead: Wrath’ will begin production.

And once you’ve survived all the scares and gore, it’s time to calm the nerves with an animated film, which will be ‘Gatto’. This is Pixar’s next original movie, which will adopt a new art style for the company. Not only do I love the hand drawn-like style, and how Pixar are branching out for this, but the teaser is also very reminiscent of the teasers Pixar used to release for films like ‘Finding Nemo’, Monsters Inc’ and ‘Toy Story 2’ and ‘Toy Story 3’. It only shows a small scene, that may be separate from the overall film, but the animation is beautiful and the cat characters are adorable. Whether this is a world run by cats remains to be seen, but this is another one I look forward to when it releases March next year.
