A Gathering Of The Angels: A David Lynch Tribute And Celebration
An extraordinary cultural event is set to descend on London, paying tribute to the visionary legacy of David Lynch. This one-time-only gathering invites fans of the late avant-garde auteur, whose groundbreaking work includes Twin Peaks, Mulholland Drive, and Blue Velvet, to come together in remembering his singular vision and surreal imagination.
A Gathering of the Angels: A Tribute and Celebration of the world of David Lynch will unfold over two evocative days – 27 and 28 September 2025 – at the iconic Genesis Cinema in Whitechapel. This cinematic tribute invites audiences to immerse themselves in the haunting beauty and surreal brilliance of Lynch’s world, honouring a legacy that reshaped the language of film. Through Q&As, screenings, live performances, live music, and more, the event will conjure the strange magic that made his work unforgettable.
The event will welcome actors from across Lynch’s remarkable body of work, alongside a big-screen presentation of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. Audiences can also expect panel discussions, costume competitions, and immersive moments that celebrate the enduring influence of Lynch’s cinematic universe.
Lynchian legends set to appear include:
- Dexter Fletcher, who made a haunting impression in The Elephant Man and has since become a celebrated director in his own right, with credits including Rocketman and Bohemian Rhapsody;
- Sabrina S. Sutherland, Lynch’s longtime collaborator and right-hand, who served as executive producer on Twin Peaks: The Return, Inland Empire, and What Did Jack Do?
- Michael Horse, beloved by fans as Deputy Hawk in Twin Peaks, a role he reprised 25 years later in Twin Peaks: The Return
- Jake Wardle, who played the green-gloved Freddie Sykes in Twin Peaks: The Return, a performance that quickly became a cult favourite.
- Lesley Dunlop, whose powerful role in The Elephant Man remains one of her most memorable early screen performances.
Further special guests will be announced in the lead-up to the event.
Both days will also grant audiences exclusive access to the Lynch Creatives online panels, spotlighting the artists and technicians who helped shape Lynch’s singular vision.
On Saturday, the panel will focus on Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, featuring co-writer Robert Engels, music editor Lori Eschler, cinematographer Ron Garcia, and sound designer Douglas Murray, offering rare behind-the-scenes insights into one of Lynch’s most haunting works.
On Sunday, The Lynch Collaborators panel will bring together an extraordinary line-up: Peter Deming (celebrated cinematographer of Mulholland Drive and Twin Peaks: The Return), Debbie Zoller (head of make-up on Twin Peaks:The Return and Lost Highway), Johanna Ray (Lynch’s long-time casting director), Duwayne Dunham (editor of Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks), Frederick Elmes (cinematographer of Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, and Wild at Heart), and Dean Hurley (sound designer, composer and sound mixer and longtime Lynch collaborator; Twin Peaks: The Return, Lady Blue Shanghai, Inland Empire).
The evening will feature live performances from the delectable The Double R Club, the East London-based burlesque and cabaret night inspired by the strange, seductive world of David Lynch. Known for their surreal and subversive style, the troupe promise to thrill and delight in equal measure.
Throughout both days, guests can enjoy Tim Peaks Diner designer coffee, the coffee brand owned by Tim Burgess, with all proceeds going to support the David Lynch Foundation’s work.
Elsewhere, A Gathering of the Angels will host The Angels Art Gallery, a curated exhibition of Lynch-inspired works, alongside a short film programme showcasing new and visionary takes on Lynch’s legacy. For those seeking a more permanent tribute, acclaimed LA tattooist Lain Freefallwill be in residence, offering bespoke tattoos drawn from the dreams (and nightmares) of Lynch’s world.
Music will echo throughout the weekend in The Slow Club – a secret bar lovingly recreated from the Blue Velvet set design. Here, guests can soak up the atmosphere, test their knowledge in The Great Lynchian Quiz, and enjoy live music performances
Saturday night will feature the first-ever UK screening of I Know Catherine, The Log Lady, a deeply moving documentary tribute to Twin Peaks icon Catherine E. Coulson. The screening will include exclusive extended footage from a rare interview with David Lynch, reflecting on his long-time friend and collaborator. The film will be followed by a Q&A with director Richard Green, who also played the mysterious magician in Mulholland Drive, and Sabrina S. Sutherland. The evening will conclude with a special musical headliner to be announced soon.
A special highlight of the event will be the newly announced live-action Mulholland Drive Dreamscape – an immersive theatrical experience designed by Jos Porath, the creative force behind the acclaimed 2019 Black Lodge installation at the Twin Peaks UK Festival. This delectably Lynchian adventure will plunge guests into the seductive, fragmented world of Mulholland Drive, blending the glamour of old-school Hollywood with the dark, surreal undercurrents that define Lynch’s work. Part scavenger hunt, part dream logic, the experience invites audiences to step inside the story, surrounded by fellow adventurers, unravelling mysteries and exploring the mind-bending terrain of Lynch’s imagination from the inside out.
Sunday’s programme will also include a special group meditation led by The David Lynch Foundation, inviting event goers to ground themselves in the practice of Transcendental Meditation – a cornerstone of Lynch’s own creative philosophy.
As night falls, the celebration will end on a high with legendary DJ sets from Tim Burgess and DJ Yoda. Both artists are renowned for their affection for the Lynchian universe: Tim Burgess, frontman of The Charlatans, famously curated Tim Peaks Diner, a Twin Peaks-themed diner and music venue at UK festivals; while DJ Yoda is known for his cinematic, genre-blending sets – often infused with cult film and TV references, including nods to Twin Peaks. Their sets promise a surreal and joyful finale to the weekend.
The event will also feature three special charity auctions in support of three organisations close to the heart of the Lynchian community. Attendees will have the chance to bid on exclusive memorabilia and experiences, with all proceeds going to The David Lynch Foundation, Cabaret Vs Cancer, and Twin Peaks star Mädchen Amick’s mental health charity, Don’t Mind Me. From rare collectables to one-of-a-kind items, the auction offers fans a chance to take home a piece of Lynchian history while supporting meaningful causes.
