Chuchotage Is On The Oscar Shortlist

The only comedy in the Oscar shortlist this year, Chuchotage shares the story of two Hungarian interpreters whose quest for love enlightens their otherwise dull day. The Oscar and Golden Globe winning film company Lakoon Filmgroup created this magical film which has won over twenty awards and stars Andrea Osvárt.

During a professional conference in Prague, two simultaneous interpreters in the Hungarian booth realize that only one person is listening to them.

Barnabás Tóth trained at the Film and TV Academy of Budapest and is an accomplished director. His filmography includes 12 short films, two features Akik Maradtak (Someone to Live For) and Rózsaszín sajt (Camembert Rose).Tóth has also directed some of Hungary’s most popular TV shows, including A mi kis falunkCsalfa Karma, HBO – Natural Born Loser.



The Laokoon Filmgroup lead by producers Gabor Sipos, Gabor Rajna and Judit Stalter.  It’s a market leader film production company in Hungary, mostly known for their ground-breaking holocaust-drama of 2015, Son of Saul that won most of the awards of the world – including the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, a Golden Globe, the Grand Prix of Cannes and ca. 40 further awards – and is sold over 98 territories.

Chuchotage was produced by Lajos Tóth, Andrea Kuczkó, Gábor Rajna, Gábor Sipos, Judit Stalter and Barnabás Tóth. The DOP is András Másik Szőke and the music was created by László Pirisi, edited by Gyula Hegedűs and written by Barnabás Tóth.
