How Modern Tech Would Ruin Classic Movies

Throughout the wonderful, crazy and inventive history of film, from the Lumière Brothers, A Trip to the Moon and beyond, we’ve been treated to some absolute wonderful films, from all over the world.  But of course, movies are just products of their time, the props, characters, themes, etc. can tell you when the film was made and/or set, something that this interesting tool, created by the fine people at SunLife, shows us.

Their neat animated website focuses just on how modern technology could potentially ruin some of our favourite and classic movies, and there are some absolute thought provoking examples in there to check out.

Just think about it.  Can you imagine if Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho were made today?  It wouldn’t be a long film!  The potential Bates Motel guests would be all over Google beforehand, checking out previous reviews, photos, etc.  There would be plenty of vacancies I’m sure…

All those dating apps like Tinder or Plenty of Fish would pretty much kill the much loved romantic comedy genre (but maybe that’s a good thing).  Who needs bumping into strangers in supermarkets, initially arguing with someone in work, or mad dashes through airports when you can just swipe right and hope for the best?

All of this is certainly an interesting theory to think about as technology has well and truly taken over our lives with no slowing down in sight.  Depressing!

Some films mentioned in SunLife’s site include The Wizard of Oz, The Shawshank Redemption, Sixteen Candles, Titanic, You’ve Got Mail and Casablanca.

There’s tons of fun to be had with the post, so make sure you head on over to the SunLife website to take a look.
