Investorideas.com, a global investor news source covering leading topics and sectors including sports and entertainment, releases an exclusive Q&A with entrepreneurial movie producer, businessman and investor Chad A. Verdi of Rhode Island.
Mr. Verdi discusses his latest movies, boxing and what’s next as a movie producer and investor.
Q: Investorideas
Chad as an avid boxing fan and a producer of an upcoming boxing movie, Bleed for This, based on the true life story of Vinny Paz, five time world champion, what did you think of the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight on Saturday ?
A: Chad A. Verdi:
A great big fighter always beats a great smaller fighter… there should be NO rematch.
Q: Investorideas
In terms of your production company, it’s Incredible that you have six films being released over the next 12 months! How is this possible and what can we expect next?
A: Chad A. Verdi
It’s been a crazy time for my wife Michelle and I. We just wrapped ‘Bleed for This’ in December and I just got back from Taiwan where ‘Silence’ is being filmed, so yes it is nuts -but all good. ‘Bad Hurt’ just premiered at Tribecca, “What a great film” and we expect that film to be released later this year. ‘Almost Mercy’ will be released in late May, then ‘Ten Thousand Saints’ starring Ethan Hawke, Hailee Steinfeld and Emile Hirsch will hit theaters this summer. We expect ‘War Pigs’ starring Mickey Rourke and Dolph Lundgren to be released in theaters in early October. In 2016 we have ‘Bleed for This’, starring Miles Teller and Aaron Eckhart and then ‘Silence’ that features Andrew Garfield, Liam Neeson, Adam Driver and Ciarán Hinds being released. So yes, crazy, busy and very exciting!
Q: Investorideas
I was told that the budget for Silence is over 50 million dollars and that you helped put the financing together. Is that correct and why were you so involved?
A: Chad A. Verdi
Yes, the budget is in that price-range and yes, I played an important role in bridging the financing needed that helped close the final financing deal. This project has been a passion project for Marty (Martin Scorsese) for over 20 years now. It was very, very important to Michelle and me that we support him and Emma Tillinger Koskoff, our producing partners, and make this film happen.
Q: Investorideas
How many films have you been involved in with Marty and Emma and what does the future look like?
A: Chad A. Verdi
We executive-produced ‘Bad Hurt’ with Emma – we love, love this film, then we executive-produced ‘The 50 Year Argument’ with Marty (now airing on HBO). Next we produced ‘Bleed for This’ with both Marty and Emma involved and we repeated this with ‘Silence’. Funny that you asked about future projects and working with the two of them in the future. We spoke about this in Taiwan. Michelle and I would love to be involved with them in the future and our goal is to executive-produce ‘The Irishman ’ and ‘Sinatra’ if possible.
Q: Investorideas
Wow, ‘The Irishman’ stars Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci and ‘Sinatra’ stars Leonardo DiCaprio – does it get much bigger than that!
A: Chad A. Verdi
No, it does not and as I stated, we would be proud to be involved. Even without those films, our plate is full until the end of 2017. Sorry, time to go, need to screen the next cut of ‘Bleed for This’ now and give notes.
