7 Best Superhero Vehicles

film reviews | movies | features | BRWC James Bond: Licence To Drive

CNBC asked a team of experts what the new Batmobile would cost and the price tag came in at $9 million. That includes all the superhero features including bulletproof frame, gadgets and model resembling more military aircraft than car. It’s not a bad way for Batman to do business and protect himself at the same time. But if you had your pick, which superhero car would you drive as you ensure justice prevails? Here’s a round-up of some of the coolest superhero cars and their tricked-out gadgets from ejector seats to gun racks.

Although tricking you car out to superhero level is a bit overboard, you have the power to amp up your car’s look with a few small changes. Try putting on new tires, tinting the windows or applying brightly colored decals to the doors. Sleek superhero car can meet everyday use. Here are seven cars to inspire you:

Batman’s Batmobile

The Batmobile has seen many incarnations since its debut in 1939. Its latest model comes from the upcoming release of “Batman vs. Superman” starring Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill. The vehicle is outfitted with a gun turret ready to wipe out evil. We’ll have to wait until 2015 to see what kind of awesome transformations this car can take on and it’s sure-to-impress gadgets. We just hope Superman doesn’t get too jealous for not having a sweet ride of his own.

The Green Hornet’s Black Beauty

Based on a 1965 Chrysler Imperial, the Black Beauty features a grille-mounted flamethrower, revolving license plate and, of course, signature green headlights. The original 15-inch tire rims have been replaced with customized 20-inch wheels and sweet decals were applied to the doors.

Mr. Incredible’s Incrediecar

Mr. Incredible, voiced by Craig T. Nelson, drives the Incredicar resembling a mash-up of the Batmobile, a Corvette and plenty of futuristic science-fiction-worthy touches. The car features a jet turbine that changes into a spare tire and a retractable hood that can transform back to a normal-looking street car. The Incredicar boasts an ejector seat and can get Mr. Incredible dressed in and out of costume in mere seconds.

James Bond’s Aston Martin

Let’s throw this one — Bond’s Aston Martin — on the list for being a more practical and relatable superhero car. The British luxury carmaker manufacturers Bond’s sleek ride for high-speed chases. We first saw this vehicle in “Goldfinger” and it has since been in 11 other 007 films. Of course, Bond made a few enhancements over the years like machine guns, tire shredders, a tracking system, an oil sprayer and an ejector seat, among other features.

Dr. Who’s Tardis

More spacecraft and wormhole than vehicle, Dr. Who’s Tardis looks like a old-fashioned British police call box from the outside. On the inside, the Tardis is dimensionally transcendental and can travel anywhere in time and space. The Tardis is complete with a swimming pool and library, clothes and secret rooms ready to explore. You really don’t need a car, let alone a superhero mansion, when the Tardis is on call.

Fantastic Four’s Fantasticar

The Fantastic Four cruises through trouble with the Fantasticar, outfitted with three cockpits. It comes with a photon accelerator and ion generator for propulsion and can speed along at 500 mph and can break into separate flying machines. Even if the enemy could catch up with it at 30,000 feet, the Fantasticar is bulletproof and impenetrable to anything but a superhero-worthy weapon.

Johnny Blaze’s Hell Cycle

The film “Ghost Rider” unleashed the monstrous superhero motorcycle, the Hell Cycle ridden by Johnny Blaze. Almost 12 feet long and made from half-bone, half-metal, the bike can leap across anything and even drive up buildings. Best of all, it intimidates enemies and bystanders in its path with its continuous blaze of flames engulfing its frame.
