SIX OF THE BEST: John Lyde, Director Of Curse Of The Dragon Slayer

Welcome another edition of SIX OF THE BEST, the semi regular part of BRWC where we fire six questions at lovely people. This time it’s John Lyde, director of Curse Of The Dragon Slayer.

Was it a tough shoot?
Quite a tough shoot, but totally worth it. Most of the people I work with are my close friends, which makes filming all that much more enjoyable.Driving long distances for locations and very hot weather conditions for the actors wearing masks, prosthetic make-up, chain mail and other heavy wardrobe. Actors trying to deliver lines as their contacts are slipping behind their eye. But lots of fun. Getting people to dress up and swings weapons at one another is always an adventure.

Was Game of Thrones an influence in your direction?
Nope. I have not watched it. Maybe one day if they release a non porno version. I hear it is really good.

CURSE OF THE DRAGON SLAYER: Stills

So what are you working on at the moment?

I just finished a sci-fi film called Survivor, starring Danielle Chuchran, the elf from Curse of the Dragon Slayer. Kevin Sorbo also stars in the film. I am working on a feature film called Dragon Siege right now. It takes place in modern day. A volcano erupts in the pacific, releasing thousands of dragons, which the Navy has to fight off.

What are your top three favorite fantasy films?
Willow would be my top. One of my most favorite films of all time. Solomon Kane and Ladyhawke.

Anything else you want to get off your chest?! Just unwanted chest hair.
