Hello again!
Check out The Raid TV teaser video.
The Escalator Ad video is quite fun too! This is what you see if you go onto the London Underground…
And lastly, here is The Raid, for real…
The martial art used in the film is Silat
Silat is an ancient Indonesian martial art that blends both weapons-based and unarmed combat. Its practitioners are adept at utilising a range of weaponry whether it is a stick, knife, sword or more exotic weapon such as a kerambit (a claw-shaped dagger which hooks on the thumb) but also in fighting barehanded.
Despite its ancient roots (Silat can be traced back as far as the 5th century), it remains applicable today and makes for a devastating and brutally effective combat art. As a fighting art, Silat focuses on disabling an opponent in the quickest way possible using techniques to break, wrench and trap joints and to throw and trip opponents.
Karasac Kali was founded by Guro Paul Finn over a decade ago. Paul has over 30 years’ experience in martial arts and has trained with some of the finest martial artists in the world.
As a club Karasac teaches Jeet Kune Do Concepts as taught by Guro Dan Inosanto (the only person certified to teach Jeet Kune Do by Bruce Lee) and as such blends techniques from a variety of martial arts including Silat, Kali, Jun Fan kickboxing, Wing Chun kung fu and Muay Thai kickboxing.
In addition Paul is the only person in the UK certified to teach Mande Muda Pencak Silat under Ibu Rita Suwanda, and one of only a handful of Level 3 instructors in Maphilindo Silat under Guro Inosanto.
