Award-winning Romanian director, Radu Muntean is set to attend a special screening of his critically acclaimed film Tuesday, After Christmas (15) at London’s Riverside Studios on Wednesday 9th May to coincide with its UK DVD release. The event is organised jointly by the Romanian Cultural Institute and Second Run DVD.
Tuesday, After Christmas is an astutely observed, deeply felt adult drama about a man who finds himself in love with two women. Paul is successful and married to Adriana but is having an affair with the younger Raluca. In the days leading to Christmas, Paul decides he needs to choose between his two lives.
Directed by Muntean and written by his frequent collaborator Alexandru Baciu, this frank, resonant and highly acclaimed film examines the emotional impact of adultery upon its three participants. A fixture on many international ‘Best Films of 2011’ lists, Tuesday, After Christmas presents a fresh and original perspective on an age-old human condition, and succeeds brilliantly through impeccable direction and remarkable performances. DVD Special Features include exclusively filmed interview with Radu Muntean and a new English subtitle translation. Tuesday, After Christmas is released on DVD by Second Run on 14th May.
Commenting on his film, Radu says, “I have tried to put into film the voyeuristic sensation that one might get from looking inside people’s houses, from walking into a couple’s kitchen or bedroom. Marital intimacy can be more captivating than a good action movie. This is not a film about guilt. This is a film about choices. A crossroads in life, where you feel you can control your own destiny. This is when you are at your most vulnerable, even though, for the first time ever you may feel you hold the power to turn your life around.”
