  • WE ARE THE GIANT

    WE ARE THE GIANT

The UK release of Sundance hit WE ARE THE GIANT will be in cinemas on 24 October 2014. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Greg Baker, WE ARE THE GIANT is the inspirational and gripping account of the Arab Spring as told first-hand by people from across the Middle East.

With remarkable and candid access, the film takes its audience inside the lives of six extraordinary people from very different walks of life, deciding they must stand up for what they believe is right, and take action. Each faces a brutal regime determined to crush them into submission, and each makes very different, painful choices that come to define themselves – and their struggles.

Activist Osama describes how his 21-year-old, Virginia-raised son, Muhannad, fought against Gaddafi’s forces in Benghazi. Syrian friends, Ghassan and Motaz remain committed to peaceful resistance even as their country descends into ever-more-hopeless violence. Sisters Maryam and Zainab become pivotal opposition figures while their father suffers in a Bahrain prison.  Powerful, tragic and ultimately inspirational, these insightful stories, underscored by echoes from past resistance leaders, show the agonizing and universal dilemmas at the heart of all struggles for justice and freedom whilst illustrating what drives revolutionaries, revealing the astonishing sacrifices they must make to pursue their causes.

WE ARE THE GIANT is directed by Award-winning filmmaker Greg Barker, a former war correspondent and acclaimed documentary producer John Battsek (SEARCHING FOR SUGARMAN, RESTREPO, THE IMPOSTER, FIRE IN BABYLON).  Barker’s most recent film,MANHUNT, an inside account of the conflict with Al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden, premiered at Sundance 2013, won the Primetime Emmy for Best Documentary and received a special mention at the 2013 BFI London Film Festival.

THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY PART 1 – Capitol Citizen Living Portraits

Fresh from the excitement of the most eventful Quarter Quell to date, we are thrilled and honored to present the new Capitol Citizen Living Portraits.

As our Quarter Quell victors, Peeta Mellark and Johanna Mason hold the distinct honor of being the first Capitol citizens featured within a Living Portrait. Peeta stands tall and true in his Capitol Citizen Living Portrait, his matte leather Unconditional ensemble showcasing a stone-like texture and channeling the victor’s quiet strength. With an unprecedented two victories under his belt, Peeta is no longer the boy who bravely faced the 74th Hunger Games, but a true Capitol hero.

Here we also see Johanna in an exquisite Alon Livne creation that “juxtaposes the flowing drapery of classic statuary while the super modern and sculptural iridescent white bodice references the branch motif of the Panem Seal.”  With plunging lines and slits as daring and divine as the warrior woman herself, every element of Johanna’s ensemble exudes her fierce strength and enduring pride- a true darling of the Capitol.

On February 28, 2002, four emotionally distant friends traveled to a remote condo in the snowcapped Utah Mountains for what was supposed to be a time for them to come together and mend their relationships. On the ride up, Seth suspiciously proclaims that his mother has died from unknown causes but he conveniently left out the part where he is being haunted by increasingly disturbing visions of her. On arrival, the four friends start to lash out at each other and end up only driving themselves further apart as a destructive cult hell-bent on resurrecting an ancient cosmic god emerges to torment them.
