STUDIOCANAL Announces Major 4K Restorations: Bowie’s The Man Who Fell to Earth and Two Coen Brothers Classics

STUDIOCANAL has announced a trio of significant 4K restorations arriving this autumn, marking major milestones for three landmark films: Nicolas Roeg’s The Man Who Fell to Earth and the Coen Brothers’ Blood Simple and Inside Llewyn Davis. All three titles will be released under the expanding STUDIOCANAL Classics label, which continues to grow its catalogue of premium restorations.

Bowie Returns to Cinemas: The Man Who Fell to Earth – 50th Anniversary

Nicolas Roeg’s cult sci‑fi masterpiece The Man Who Fell to Earth celebrates its 50th anniversary with a nationwide UK cinema re‑release on 13 November. Starring David Bowie in his first leading film role, the film remains a haunting, era‑defining portrait of alienation, adapted from Walter Tevis’ novel.

A 5‑disc Collector’s Edition follows on 16 November, featuring 4K UHD, Blu‑ray, a 2CD soundtrack, new artwork by Aleksander Walijewski, four posters, four art cards, and a 100‑page booklet including a new interview with Candy Clark. The centrepiece is a brand‑new 40‑minute documentary, Bowie & Roeg: Aliens in America, featuring interviews with Clark, Geoff MacCormack, Ava Cherry and archive material with Bowie and Roeg.

Coen Brothers Restored: Blood Simple and Inside Llewyn Davis

STUDIOCANAL will also release new 4K restorations of two Coen Brothers favourites on 8 October 2026, showcasing the breadth of the filmmakers’ early and later work.

Blood Simple – Director’s Cut (1984)

The Coens’ debut feature returns in a 2‑disc 4K UHD Limited Steelbook, alongside standalone UHD and Blu‑ray editions. Each release includes a poster and three new featurettes exploring the film’s design, production and Carter Burwell’s score. Archive interviews and a newly assembled Coen Brothers documentary round out the package.

Inside Llewyn Davis – 3‑Disc Collector’s Edition (2014)

Oscar Isaac’s acclaimed turn as Greenwich Village folk singer Llewyn Davis is newly restored in 4K and presented in a three‑disc Collector’s Edition. Extras include a new featurette with production designer Jess Gonchor, the 101‑minute concert documentary Another Day, Another Time, a making‑of, interviews with the cast and T Bone Burnett, and an exclusive poster.

STUDIOCANAL continues to invest heavily in film preservation, having restored nearly 1,000 titles in 4K over the past seven years. These new releases highlight the label’s commitment to keeping essential cinema accessible and dazzling in the modern age.
