Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always – Trailer Talk

2023 might just be the year that 1990’s nostalgia begins in media: just this week, boy bands Busted and McFly have announced a reunion tour and new music, with S Club 7 even reuniting for a UK tour later this year. Plus, January saw ‘The Matrix’ and the ‘Scream’ franchises return to cinemas. But it looks like the nostalgia is continuing with ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’, as they’re returning for a 30th anniversary reunion film on Netflix.

‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always’ sees the original cast return with their dinosaur zords to defeat the evil Rita Repulsa, with Barbara Goodson reprising the role and Richard Horvitz (Helluva Boss, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy) returning as the robot guard Alpha 5.

Next to Batman, this was a childhood favourite: I not only made sure to watch every episode, but I also owned the toys, went to see the movie and even owned a CD with the original theme tune on it. So, seeing this reunion happen is extremely nostalgic personally. Not only has most of the original lead cast returned but the tone, costumes and locations even match the 90’s show. While the cinematography has improved, thanks to modern technology, it looks like the film will be keeping the cheesy tone and the Kaiju-like monsters that the Rangers fight.

My only question is will we also be seeing Goldar and Lord Zedd? I guess fans will have to wait till the end of April, when the film is released on Netflix

Megan’s taste in films are interesting: her favourite films are ‘Space Jam’, Studio Ghibli’s ‘The Cat Returns’, as well as horror films ‘Saw’, ‘Drag Me To Hell’ and ‘Ju-On: The Grudge’. When she’s not watching films, she’ll be spending precious hours playing ‘Crash Bandicoot’.
