NBA Rising Stars Poised to Become All-Stars in 2023

Becoming an NBA All-Star is a significant milestone in any player’s career, representing an elevated status within the league. As the most competitive basketball league in the world, the NBA is filled with talented players, making becoming an All-Star a significant feat.

Ja Morant, DeJoute Murray, Andrew Wiggins, Darius Garland, and Fred VanVleet became first-time All-Stars last year, and many rising stars are hoping to be named to the All-Star roster in the upcoming season. Keep reading to learn about some of the players poised to become All-Stars in 2023.

Anthony Edwards—Minnesota Timberwolves

When fans and analysts talk about future NBA All-Stars, Anthony Edwards’ name almost always tops the list. Edwards averaged an impressive 21.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.5 steals per game during his second season in the league and appeared to be on the cusp of superstardom.

With the Minnesota Timberwolves hoping to make a deep run into the playoffs this upcoming season, Edwards will likely play a critical role. Betting is a big part of the fan experience, with many fans checking the odds to see how their favorite teams stack up against the competition. If Edwards continues to improve his game, we can expect to see more fans wagering on the Timberwolves by taking advantage of the free bets listed on OddsChecker that many sports books offer to new customers.

Edwards has had an impressive run so far in his career, and last year, he became the youngest player in the history of the NBA to make ten 3-points in a single game. He also has All-Star charisma, and fans love to watch him dunk the ball. Best of all, the 21-year-old hasn’t peaked yet and still has a lot of room to grow.

Jalen Brunson—New York Knicks

Jalen Brunson had a breakout performance as the Dallas Maverick’s point guard during their unexpected second-round victory over the Phoenix Suns in last year’s playoffs. The Knicks picked up Brunson during the offseason, setting him up to shine in a large NBA market and possibly become an All-Star in 2023.

Brunson refined his game during the four years he spent playing side-by-side with Luka Doncic in Dallas, averaging 16.3 points, 4.8 assists, and 3.9 rebounds last season. Fans expect him to improve those numbers in New York, where Doncic won’t overshadow him.

Analysts expect Brunson to be the starting guard for the Knicks, driving up his production and giving him more opportunities to shine. If he lives up to expectations, we can expect to see him don an All-Star uniform in 2023.

Cade Cunningham—Detroit Pistons

As the number one draft pick in 2021, fans have had high expectations for Cade Cunningham. While the talented player finished third in rookie of the year voting in 2022, he’s still a favorite to become a first-time All-Star in 2023. The 20-year-old point guard is the backbone of the Detroit Piston’s team, averaging 17.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 1.4 steals per game during his debut season.

If he can bump up his field goal percentage and improve his three-point shot, he has a good chance of making the All-Star team this upcoming season. While it’s rare for a player to make the All-Star Team their sophomore year, a combination of factors could make it possible for Cunningham.

The Pistons traded their lead scorer Jerami Grant to the Portland Trail Blazers, allowing Cunningham to increase his production next season, which could position him to become an All-Star in 2023.

Tyrese Maxey—76ers

While many fans were using the offseason to catch up on NBA-themed movies like Hustle, NBA players like Tyrese Maxey were preparing for the upcoming season. With Ben Simmons’ absence last season, Maxey had the opportunity to shine, and he did. Maxey significantly improved his production over previous seasons, averaging 17.5 and 4.3 assists per game. If he continues to perform at this level, we can expect to see him suiting up as an All-Star in 2023.
