Wednesday: Trailer Talk

Wednesday: Trailer Talk

Monday saw the start of Netflix’s Geeked Week, a week-long event where the streaming service announce their upcoming shows and films either through trailers or posters. Because of the number of trailers that have been released (both Netflix and non-streaming ones), Trailer Talk will focus on a different trailer from this event over the next couple of weeks.

The first one is a reveal trailer for ‘Wednesday’, the live action series focusing on Wednesday Addams of the Addams Family. This was a series that I knew nothing about but am definitely interested in. While I didn’t grow up with the films/show, I grew an appreciation for the unique gothic family later in life purely because of the visual aesthetic.

But my excitement for the Wednesday Addams show increases with the reveal of Wednesday, played by Jenna Ortega. She looks brilliant as the character and has proved to be a fantastic horror actress, after ‘Scream 5’. Plus, the show is going to be directed by Tim Burton with music composed by Danny Elfman! If there were any show that suited this pair, it’s a show based around the Addams Family and this is a perfect match.

The surprise announcement of ‘Wednesday’ is one I welcome. The lead casting is perfect and the return team up of Tim Burton and Danny Elfman makes me very excited for what’s to come later this year.

Megan’s taste in films are interesting: her favourite films are ‘Space Jam’, Studio Ghibli’s ‘The Cat Returns’, as well as horror films ‘Saw’, ‘Drag Me To Hell’ and ‘Ju-On: The Grudge’. When she’s not watching films, she’ll be spending precious hours playing ‘Crash Bandicoot’.
