Venom Takes Number 1 On The Official Film Chart

Venom

Tom Hardy’s Venom takes over the Official Film Chart as it debuts at Number 1 on digital downloads only. The antihero adventure has outsold 2018’s biggest film and this week’s Number 2 The Greatest Showman by 4,000 units.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again dances up four places to Number 3, ahead of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom which storms up ten slots to 4; Deadpool 2 leaps 13 places to Number 6; while the Oscar nominated BlacKkKlansman enters the Top 10 for the first time, reaching a peak position of Number 7. Skyscraper ascends 12 levels to Number 8, and Winston Churchill is back in residence at Number 10 in Darkest Hour.

Elsewhere in the chart, Upgrade reaches its highest placing so far at Number 14, Blade Runner 2049 impacts for the first time at Number 15.

Finally, last year’s awards season stand-outs Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and The Shape Of Water land at Number 18 and Number 20 consecutively.

This week’s Official Film Chart online show features a sneak peek at Gaspa Noé’s twisted horror Climax, which is available to download and keep from February 4 and to buy on disc from February 11.
