Skyline
A cheap Independence Day knock-off that sees some obnoxious Los Angelenos get sucked up into a spiky alien spaceship. With stock characters and a clunky script, these days this film would have bypassed the cinema and landed straight onto the SyFy channel.
Deadpool 2
Calling it one of the worst films of the past ten years might be harsh, but as my least favourite film of 2018 so far, Deadpool 2 has earned an honourary spot on the list. While the first film was fun, if forgettable, this second instalment simply doubles down on the kind of knob gags and sweary banter that surely no one over the age of 12 finds funny, with the overlong runtime stretching the joke very thin. The film spends two hours cynically trying to subvert the superhero tropes, only to fall back on them and then expect the audience to actually care about the characters. Most irritating though was pairing up two ace characters in Domino and Cable with some great casting in Zazie Beetz and Josh Brolin, only to waste them on this juvenile drivel.
