Intrepid Cinema, Cosmic Cat and Dartmouth Films are thrilled to announce the release of the critically acclaimed, award winning feature documentary THE ISLANDS AND THE WHALES in UK cinemas from 29th March. Its UK Film Premiere will take place on Thursday 29 March, 7pm at Picturehouse Central followed by a Q&A with Jon Snow and Director Mike Day and guest which will be streamed live to UK wide cinemas.

Netflix, the world’s leading Internet entertainment service, announced that the highly acclaimed documentary series The Defiant Ones will launch March 23rd exclusively on Netflix everywhere excluding the U.S. and Canada. All four episodes will be available at once to members around the world.  Set amid many of the defining events of the past four decades, The Defiant Ones tells the stories of Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre — one the son of a Brooklyn longshoreman, the other straight out of Compton — and their improbable partnership and surprising leading roles in a series of transformative events in contemporary culture. This revealing, compelling and often-gritty story takes place in recording studios, in humble homes and massive mansions, in criminal courts and in the highest corridors of corporate power.

Uncork’d Entertainment gives birth to evil with the chilling The Lullaby, in theaters and VOD March 2.  Chloe is overwhelmed by the birth of her first child. The incessant crying of her baby, the growing sense of guilt and paranoia sends her into depression. With a heightened urge to protect her son, Chloe sees danger in every situation. She starts to hear voices, the humming of a childhood lullaby and sees flashes of a strange entity around her child. Convinced that the entity is real, Chloe will do everything in her power to protect her son. Is she haunted by evil or is it just the baby blues?

Here’s a hilarious acclaimed comedy which has been directed by Sally Porter and features Cillian Murphy, Kristin Scott Thomas, Timothy Spall, Bruno Ganz, Cherry Jones, Emily Mortimer and Patricia Clarkson. You can watch the trailer here. The film did tremendously well for an indie film at theatrical grossing 1.1M and there is a lot of awards buzz around including a BIFA win for Patricia Clarkson’s performance and an Evening Standard Nomination for Kirsten Scott Thomas who was nominated for Best Actress at the Evening Standard Awards. The film is releasing on DVD / BD and Digital on 19th February.

In I FEEL PRETTY, Amy Schumer stars as Renee Barrett – a woman who struggles with feelings of insecurity and inadequacy on a daily basis. After suffering a fall at a spin class, she wakes up believing she is suddenly the most beautiful and capable woman on the planet. With this newfound confidence she is empowered to live her life fearlessly and flawlessly, but what will happen when she realizes her appearance never changed?

From award-winning director James Erskine (Sachin: A Billion Dreams, Battle of the Sexes) and producer Victoria Gregory (Shooting for Socrates, Senna) comes a new feature about the figure skating legend John Curry. Based on the book by Bill Jones and narrated by Freddie Fox, THE ICE KING is a searing documentary of a lost cultural icon, a story of art, sport, sexuality, and rebellion, releasing in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on 23 February 2018.

Rex is based on the true-life story of young Marine Corporal Megan Leavey (Kate Mara) whose unique discipline and bond with her military combat dog saved many lives during their deployment in Iraq. When she is assigned to clean the K9 unit after a disciplinary hearing, Leavey identifies with a particularly aggressive dog, Rex, and is given the chance to train him. Over the course of their service, Megan and Rex completed more than 100 missions until and IED explosion injures them, putting their fate in jeopardy.  Directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite (Blackfish) and starring Kate Mara (House of Cards), Tom Felton (Harry Potter), Bradley Whitford (Get Out) Edie Falco (The Sopranos) and Common (Selma).
