Mario and Zelda

Mario and Zelda are the same stories told differently or is it that one is the retelling of the other? You know what we are getting at. There are different versions of this theory but they all share one thing in common, they all say that Mario and Zelda are one and the same. Although both games were being worked on at the same time many people have theorized that the Super Mario universe is another version of The Legend of Zelda universe. Obviously, this theory means that the main characters need to match up which means Mario is Link, Peach is Zelda and Bowser is Gannon. In the same way, the Mushroom Kingdom is Hyrule.

There have been cross overs between the both brands that show connections which may be more than just Nintendo splashing some Easter eggs into their games such as an unlockable mask of Mario in 2000’s The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. In addition to this the eight worlds in the Mario universe are reflective of the Eight temples in the Zelda universe with some of them following the same theme i.e. the water temple in Zelda and the water world in Mario.
