Jared Cohn Told BRWC About Sharknado: Heart Of Sharkness

Sharknado : Heart of Sharkness is an all-new original instalment in the Sharknado series – with a difference.  The October release stars Jared Cohn as the filmmaker behind the very, very first Sharknado movie – the one we never saw!

What was the appeal for you here – to have some fun?

Definitely. I have great times making movies. The opportunity to be creative, and work with other talented folks is a dream come true.

Was this movie always designed to be part of the Sharknado franchise or did it just recently come together?

The director, Jeremy Wagener, who also came up with the story came up with the characters was apart of the decision to move forward -of course this project was discussed with the partners of The Asylum, who are also featured in the movie, who are actually really good actors! They are the real reason this movie got made, thank you David Rimawi, David Latt and Paul Bales!

Tell us about your character?

He’s a maniacal, egotistical, megalomaniacal but yet very determined type of guy. I enjoyed playing him though. Hopefully it translated well to the screen!

Most actors in a Sharknado movie expect to be covered in some kind of icky fake blood or foam fish guts…  were you lucky enough to be doused in anything so ghastly?

I made it out pretty clean, however I can’t say that for everyone else! Some people in the movie got covered with all sorts of nasty fish guts and fake blood and a bunch of other weird crap. I did have to run into the ocean and do a few other crazy things, though. Whatever it takes to get the shot though.

Though a comedy, is there some good action and horror in here too?

There are some wild and crazy things going on, it’s mostly a comedy. A lot of it was improvised so we the actors were doing all sorts of bits, we came up with things on the spot, and sometimes we would use them, sometimes the director would come up with crazy things and we just went and did them.

Have you watched the film with an audience yet? How was the reaction?

I have not seen the movie yet. I always get a little weird watching myself act. But I definitely will see it at the premiere….

Is this film going to DVD before it airs on TV?

It’s looking like it will be released on DVD/VOD and there have been murmurs of some TV showings. Soon as I find out I will post on social media – follow me @Traplight Media on Twitter and on FaceBook to find out. Thanks for having me on!
