Cineworld, the UK’s leading cinema chain, is excited to announce the opening of the first-ever 4DX cinema in the UK. Providing a revolutionary cinematic experience which stimulates all five senses, the new 4DX auditorium will include high-tech motion seats and special effects including wind, fog, lightning, bubbles, water, rain and scents, in both 2D and 3D formats, which work in perfect synchronicity with the action on screen – creating the most unmissable and exhilarating cinematic experience yet.

4DX is considered today to be the biggest innovation in cinematic technology. Developed in South Korea by the CJ conglomerate, a leader in the Asian entertainment industry, this amazing, new experience was warmly adopted by the big Hollywood Studios. With that support, more than 200 movies, including top blockbusters, have been screened in 4DX auditoriums, and a large number of movies will be released in a 4DX version in the UK. Operating 150 auditoriums in 30 countries, 4DX recently received ‘Cinema Innovation of the Year’ award by I3DS (International 3D & Advanced Imaging Society) and has been highly praised by famous film directors such as Alfonso Cuaron of ‘Gravity’, who showed interest in making future projects in 4DX.

The 4DX cinema will be launching on 30th January 2015 in Cineworld Milton Keynes – with tickets going on sale from Thursday 15th January. The new auditorium has taken a total of five months to complete and includes 140 seats plus a curved screen measuring at an incredible 5.8m x 10.5m – bigger than a double decker bus.

The first film to be screened in 4DX will be Kingsman: The Secret Service and thereafter, customers will be able toenjoy upcoming movies, including Hollywood blockbusters and local hits of various genres as well.

Mooky Greidinger, Cineworld Chief Executive Officer says:  “We are incredibly excited to be bringing this revolutionary cinematic experience to the UK. Cineworld Milton Keynes will be our first location among many others to come. In 4DX, cinema-goers will become part of the action as sounds, motion, lights and special effects thrill them in their seats.

“At Cineworld, we are committed to differentiating ourselves – ensuring we are at the forefront of innovation and technology, while giving our customers the most enhanced cinematic experience there is. This amazing new venture, in addition to our other offers, such as IMAX, Superscreen, VIP auditoriums, D-Box and now 4DX, allows our customer to choose not only which movie they wish to see, but also how they want to watch it”.

Mark Johnson, General Manager at Cineworld Milton Keynes comments: “We’re delighted to be the first Cineworld cinema to be bringing 4DX to not only the people of Milton Keynes, but also the UK. We can’t wait to see people’s reactions!”

Brandon Choi, Chief Sales & Marketing Officer at 4DX, concludes:  “We are delighted to be working with Cineworld on introducing the first-ever 4DX to the UK. As the UK’s number one cinema chain, launching 4DX with Cineworld was an obvious choice and we are very much looking forward to working together, collectively revolutionising the way we watch film. In a strong and close partnership with Cineworld, together we plan to deliver this immersive cinematic experience to a wider audience by expanding 4DX to more regions in the UK”

4DX tickets can be booked from 15th January 2015. To book tickets and for further information, please visit www.cineworld.com/MiltonKeynes.
