Fear: Review

By Ben Hooper.

This horror short with arthouse affectations starts promisingly, clearly influenced by the clean white surfaces and cool detachment of Brandon Cronenberg’s Antiviral, and the erratic editing of The Strange Colour of Your Body’s Tears.

But then it all becomes rather silly; with hardly any narrative or intrigue to grasp onto, it descends into cheesy horror trope territory – spooked dog, forked lightning, Stock Thunder Clap #3.

There are some striking images on display, although most have been pilfered from the aforementioned influences, as well as the old ‘blood down the plughole’ from Psycho.

And when the climax finally trips over after 14 minutes of fuck-all, that’s not fear you’re feeling, it’s frustration.
