Last Vegas: The Cast

Following the release of must-see comedy LAST VEGAS on Blu-ray™ and DVD this week, we thought we’d take a look at the A-list cast. Hollywood legends Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Kline star as four friends in their sixties who have known each other since childhood, who decide it’s time to stop acting their age and embark on one last blowout bachelor party in Vegas.

Michael Douglas was born in 1944 and has had a long and successful career landing lead roles in The Game, Basic Instinct and Falling Down. He has bagged himself four Golden Globes, two Academy Awards, one Emmy and won the Best Actor in his role in Wall Street (1987). Considering his father was film star Kirk Douglas, it is not surprising that Michael could make it so big himself. But he clearly managed to make his own identity in the acting world and his career soared in the 1990s after Basic Instinct, a dark thriller / mystery. It is great to see him as part of such a legendary group in Last Vegas as it proves he can do comedy just as well!

Robert De Niro in his early acting days was known for his thriller and drama roles, such as Casino and Goodfellas. Born in 1943, he has been credited as an actor, director and producer. He made a name for himself being involved in the specific genre and for a while that is what his career was based around, having won two academy awards for The Godfather Part II (1974) and The Raging Bull (1980). It wasn’t until he was older that he started taking more comedic roles, in Meet the Parents he plays a comedic overprotective father and displays his humorous side, which is strongly shown in Last Vegas. From such a successful career, De Niro received the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003 and The Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMill Award in 2010. Keep it up, Robert!

Morgan Freeman, born 1937 is not necessarily known for his roles in comedy either, but rather drama and thrillers, too. With leading roles in the classic films The Shawshank Redemption and Se7en he quickly became recognised and also starred in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight duo. He has become an A-list actor, director and narrator, with over one hundred acting credits under his belt and an Oscar for the Best Supporting Actor, it’s no wonder he is now a Hollywood legend. After dipping into some well-known comedic roles such as Bruce Almighty later on in his career, it seems he was the perfect fit alongside the other stars in Last Vegas.

Kevin Kline has been involved in drama / comedies from the start of his acting career, in both American stage and film. He has won two Tony awards for Broadway musicals and the Academy Award for A Fish Called Wanda (1988). He has also contributed to many animated shows and films by voicing characters. Although his career is different compared to the others, he has learnt how to portray comedy over the years and this shows in Last Vegas. Kline continues to perform in musicals and gained himself a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, way-to-go Kevin!
