NEXT GOAL WINS is the most delightful documentary, it’s a real underdog story following the American Samoan football team after they’ve been ranked FIFA’s lowest football team after being thrashed 31 – 0 by Australia. It focuses on their quest to qualify for the upcoming world cup in Brazil – it’s a real heartwarming and inspiring journey, the last screening saw journalists laughing, crying and cheering as well as a round of applause at the end.

This is a debut feature for directors Mike Brett and Steve Jamieson who have directed football commercials for brands such as Nike. The guys decided to follow the journey of the American Samoan football team as it struck a chord with them and what they originally loved about football – players playing purely for the love of the game.

NEXT GOAL WINS will be released by ICON FILM DISTRIBUTION in cinemas 9th May 2014
