Molly Weasley Voted Nation’s Favourite Movie Mum

For Mother’s Day Wuaki.tv, a leading movie and TV series streaming service, has today revealed the nation’s favourite onscreen mother figure is Molly Weasley from the Harry Potter franchise.

Wuaki.tv asked 1,000 people to vote for their favourite onscreen mother figure who features in movie franchises or a TV series. Of all the onscreen mums, Ronald Weasley’s loving mother was by far the most popular – with almost one in five people naming her as their favourite.

Harry Potter’s mother, Lily Potter, also featured in the top 10, but much further down at number nine. Bambi’s mother, from Disney’s animated classic Bambi grabbed the second spot with 11% of the votes, while in stark contrast Stifler’s Mom from the American Pie franchise came in third place with 10%.

Some of the more surprising names to appear outside the top 10 included Wendy Torrance, the wife of Jack Torrance from horror film classic The Shining, and Skyler White from US TV series Breaking Bad.

There was also a stark contrast between mummy’s girls and boys. While Molly Weasley proved to be the most popular mum amongst woman surveyed (grabbing 23% of the female vote), men preferred the tougher approach to parenting from Terminator’s Sarah Connor (with 14% of the male vote).
