Cinema and fashion collided in London, as a custom-made cinema-themed gown was unveiled to mark the launch of the film biopic, Yves Saint Laurent.
The gown, commissioned by Vue Entertainment, draws inspiration from the famous fashion designer who coined the phrase ‘style is eternal’, but it has been given a movie makeover with a dress made from over 1,722 of the cinema’s pick n’ mix sweets including flumps and liquorish cables, 2,202 individual pieces of popcorn, 100 cinema tickets, 22 popcorn boxes and 50 pairs of RealD 3D glasses.
Joanne Webb, Marketing and Sales Director said: “We’re thrilled to unveil our glamorous gown to celebrate the launch of the new Yves Saint Laurent biopic at Vue. Our state-of-the-art audio-visual technology, fully-digital screens and comfortable stadium-style seating, will no doubt provide cinema and fashion fans with the perfect atmosphere to see this eagerly-anticipated film.”
Clare Grotefeld, the designer who created the limited-edition gown, said: “We wanted to create a spectacular gown that had a real ‘wow’ factor for dedicated followers of fashion and cinema. The colour of the dress under-garment is a luxurious red – a popular colour choice of Yves Saint Laurent, while the rest of the dress is made entirely from items you would find in a cinema, such as pick ‘n’ mix sweets, RealD 3D glasses and popcorn!”
Fashion and cinema fans can catch a glimpse of this incredible gown at Vue Westfield in Shepherd’s Bush where it will be on display for one week only from Friday 21st March.
