Colchester Film Festival World Premiere

Colchester Film Festival is proud to welcome local writer/director Ronnie Thompson to Colchester’s iconic firstsite visual arts gallery to showcase his new film ‘I am Soldier’ starring Noel Clarke (Star Trek into Darkness) and Tom Hughes (About Time) on the 7^th of March. The cast and crew will be introducing the film and taking part in a Q and A session after the screening.

The latest film from ‘Tower Block’ Director Ronnie Thompson follows Mickey (Tom Hughes) taking on the most dangerous military training known to man: SAS selection. The Special Air Service is the UK’s most renowned Special Forces regiment, tasked with missions in some of the most dangerous and hostile locations on the planet. Mickey is smashed by the gruelling selection process- physically, mentally and emotionally. But, when the Counter Terrorism Squadron take charge of a deadly situation, Mickey, Carter (Noel Clarke) and their fellow recruits advance into conflict to see if they really do have what it takes. Many try to get into the SAS. Only the elite prevail.

This premiere continues the festival’s tradition of showcasing and discovering filmmaking talent and inspiring the next generation of filmmakers.

The fastest growing festival of its type in the UK, Colchester Film Festival takes place 22^nd to the 26^th of October 2014 in firstsite. The festival is accepting short and feature film submissions until July 1^st2014 and it is free to enter.

Festival Director Adam Piercy said, “We are delighted to bring the first world premiere to Colchester. Bringing events like this to Colchester shows how fast the festival is growing, and the reputation it has already achieved within the filmmaking community.”
