Movie Bingo Nights

What’s funnier, a game of bingo or a movie night? Hmmmm…

It’s a conundrum that’s foxed many a friendship group since time immemorial, but thanks to the ingenuity of some crafty bingo and blockbuster buffs, there’ll never be any need to choose between the two again. No more squabbles over whether it’s to be the bingo hall or the sofa. No more glum faces in front of the tv screen. No more boredom at the sight of a bingo card.

The solution is simple. Can’t choose between bingo and movies? Then put them both together to create something even funnier than the sum of its parts!

Movie bingo is dead easy, and it’s a barrel of laughs when you’re in good company. There are a number of twists on the game – maybe you can tweak the rules to make your own – but the basic principle is you pick two or three famous movies to watch in a random order, and each write down nine or twelve things – they could be famous quotes, scenes or characters – on a bingo card. As the movies progress, the boxes on the cards get ticked off and prizes go to the first player to get a line and the first to get a full house. Simples.

You really don’t need a lot to make a movie bingo night a roaring success. Just make sure you have:

· Bingo cards (we recommend just drawing a 9×9 or 12×12 grid of rectangles on a piece of card)
· Pens – one each and bright colours are always fun
· 2 or three fab films to suit your audience, whether that means chick flicks or the Lord of the Rings trilogy
· Some fun prizes
· Optional alcoholic beverages and finger food!

How to make your bingo movie night different

Bingo and movies make a great match – check out the bingo.com film festival if you don’t believe us! – but if you want to put on a party that’ll become the stuff of myth and legend, it’s worth thinking about ways to make your night extra special.

We recommend themed fancy dress to suit the movies shown, a themed buffet (inspiration here!) and for naughtier movie bingo players, shot drinking forfeits for the rest of the players when the first player scores a line. Use your imagination and you’ll be able to think of the perfect movie bingo night for you and your friends to enjoy.
