While silent films are largely forgotten in an era of 3D glasses and Blu-ray explosions, Eureka Video’s due to release Australian piece WAKE IN FRIGHT and William A Wellman’s silent epic, WINGS, for their Masters of Cinema Series in early 2014.

The Masters of Cinema range covers American films from the silent era onwards alongside the budding Australian independent pieces and Italian masterworks.

The 2014 line-up also includes the following:

Andrew Bujalski’s Computer Chess. Accolades include a premiere at the London Film Festival.

William A Wellman’s Wings, winner of the first Academy Award for Best Picture.

Sidney Lumet’s Serpico.
Federico Fellini’s Roma.
Francesco Rosi’s Le mani sulla citta [Hands Over the City.]
Ted Kotcheff’s Wake in Fright. (A.K.A the piece that sent Nick Cave and Martin Scorsese articulately ape.)
Samuel Fuller’s White Dog.
