On Thursday 21st November 2013, Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe will launch a unique projected art exhibition to celebrate the upcoming release of his new film KILL YOUR DARLINGS in cinemas on 6th December.

The ‘KYD (Kill Your Darlings) Cut-Up Exhibition’ will take the form of projections that will travel around the Capital over three days, being seen by thousands of Londoners in key locations.

The ‘Cut-Up’ technique, where a text is cut up and rearranged to create a new original text, was popularized in the late 1950s by writer William S. Burroughs and has since been used in a variety of creative contexts. Along with Allen Ginsberg (Daniel Radcliffe), Lucian Carr (Dane DeHaan) and Jack Kerouac (Jack Huston), William S. Burroughs, played by Ben Foster also features in Kill Your Darlings, a true crime-thriller based on the previously untold story of a murder that implicated the men who went on to become the great poets of the Beat Generation.

For the ‘KYD Cut-Up Exhibition’ the concept of ‘Cut-Ups’ is being broadened to include a wider range of artistic disciplines such as design, fashion, illustration, photography, art and literature.

The technique has been used creatively by artists, designers and musicians such as David Bowie, Keith Richards, Kurt Cobain and Thom Yorke.

The exhibition will be projected at sites around London on Thursday 21st, Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd November. This first of a kind exhibition will feature a selection of original ‘Cut Up’ artworks submitted by artists and designers via Facebook.

For the chance to have their work included in the ‘KYD Cut Up Exhibition’ and to attend the launch with Daniel Radcliffe on Thursday 21st November, participants are being asked to upload an image of their cut up artwork to the KILL YOUR DARLINGS official UK Facebook page no later than Sunday 17th November. More information can be found on the Facebook page or on Twitter #KYDcutUP

Mr Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe and Dane DeHaan invite you to take part in the KYD Cut-Up Exhibition. Watch the video here.
