To celebrate the 12th August release of HBO’s GIRLS: The Complete Second Season, we put together a list of some of the best moments and scenes throughout Season Two. Hannah, Jessa, Shoshanna and Marnie are back in yet another season of self-discovery and adventures in New York City.
Hannah and Elijah do cocaine

As a writer you sometimes need to immerse yourself into your topic. In Hannah’s case, to get the story she and Elijah decide to do cocaine and party at a club. It leads to a night of switching shirts with someone you’re dancing with, doing more cocaine and dancing like crazy.
Marnie sings Kanye West

“Imma let you finish,” but this may be one of the most awkward moments for everyone watching Marnie sing Kanye West’s Stronger. It’s hardly the right song for the party environment that they are in, but she keeps on singing despite the awkwardness.
Butt Text

Jessa receives a text of jumbled up letters from her dad and feels that it’s a sign that he wants to see her. Hannah is not so convinced and thinks he just butt texted Jessa and she’s looking into the situation too deeply. They end up visiting her crazy family in the New York ‘countryside’ where it’s all meeting up with boys and eating freshly shot rabbit…
Hannah’s Dinner Party

Among the awkward conversations of butt plugs and relationships at the table, Marnie and her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend Audrey go head to head on Marnie always showing up where Charlie is. Marnie storms out when Hannah doesn’t make a decision about who should leave after the argument.
Where the magic happens

Hannah is hired by an online magazine to write articles that will put her out of her comfort zone. The display on the wall is the editor’s personal motto, but Hannah doesn’t fully understand the connection at first.
Jessa meets her in-laws

Sometimes when you’re nervous words just come out of your mouth when you don’t want them to – And they may not always be the words you necessarily want other people to know you’re thinking. Jessa is a prime example of this when she first meets her in-laws at a restaurant she dislikes.
Adam’s Songs for Hannah

Hannah and Elijah watch a mash-up of songs that Adam recorded on his webcam for Hannah after their split. Needless to say that both of them are afraid of what the end of the video will bring as Adam continues to sing about how Hannah broke his heart.
“When did you eat jerky?”

After a night of doing cocaine and dancing at the club, Elijah tells Hannah that he had sex with Marnie. The two argue in the aisle of a store about their break-up when Hannah kisses Elijah. His response is anything but romantic.
