Transformers 3: The Dark Film Of The Series

Everyone remembers it. So early into the movie, and the descent into awful dialogue, humor, and film making was very clear. Transformers 2: Revenge Of The Fallen wasn’t a good film. I don’t know what other people’s expectations were, but I didn’t even care much for the trailers. Everything about the film seemed forgettable. I won’t get into it in too much depth, but Revenge of The Fallen just a bad movie. So when I heard about the sequel, I stayed mildly alert. Now that some news and trailers has been released, here’s what I think.

Transformers 3: Dark Side Of the Moon. So dark the first teaser was set on the dark side of the moon! Get it? Because it’s really dark there? Anyway, will it make us cringe as much as the second did? Will the humor fall so flat you could hear a pin drop? Will we have to be forced through another shot of John Turturro in a thong? I really hope not.

So far, from the teasers and trailers that have been released, it’s quite clear that Michael Bay is trying to amp up the whole “dramatic epic humans versus alien transformers” thing. I would play it up, too, especially when you need to erase the bad taste of the last film from the mind of the viewers. The footage looks mostly promising. No Megan Fox, and I won’t get into a whole “She sucks” or “She rocks” battle because I really don’t care that much either way. The new love interest in the film seems to be much less tougher than Fox’s character, and it will be interesting to see how they deal with the character no longer being there. Will Bay give the character an honorable mention or just go with the “she’s just gone” method? We’ll have to wait and see. I just hope the film doesn’t have any more terrible romantic dialogue. Was pretty painful for the theater audiences. Kids left to go see The Hangover. Good choice.

Hey, look at that, Michael Bay was enjoying The Hangover during Revenge of The Fallen Too!
Or was suffering from one, more likely…

Back to the film, the villains seem to be different. The ships in the trailer look like they have that organic style that The Fallen had. There are definitely some new transformers like a vulture, the big (presumeably) baddie who crashed on the moon, and a cylindrical beast-of-a-transformer that coils around a building. With new Autobots and Decepticons running around, sadly there are also the bad ones. From some sources on the web it seems Skids and Mudflap will be returning. Let’s hope they either have completely reworked characters, or the more logical choice, get killed off early in the film.

The action looks good, and there doesn’t seem to be any humorous parts in the trailer at all, not even with John Turturro. The trailer is well put together, but Michael Bay is known well for having films with the best trailers. The trailer for Revenge of the Fallen was deceiving and certainly didn’t let onto all the bad stuff in the film. If Dark Side of the Moon’s tone matches that of it’s trailer, the bad characters and dialogue are gone, and we get some great moments with the Autobots and Decepticons, then I think it might be a success. At the very least it won’t be as bad as the second film…

… then again, maybe not.
