Watchmen – Sledge’s Brief Take

I’ll be honest, I have not read Watchmen. So I didn’t know much about the whole universe, nor the plot. This is pretty much the most eagerly awaited comic book adaptation since…you know. It’s set in a very different 1985. One where superheroes are a normal (but illegal) part of life.

The tension between the US and Soviet Union will kick off in five minutes according to the Doomsday Clock. A older superhero named The Comedian is picked off – this starts the film off perfectly…

The ten or so minute introduction to Watchmen’s alternate universe set to Bob Dylan is absolutely wonderful.

Neither the ending nor the fight scenes are enough to prevent me from wholeheartedly recommending this film though. It’s been 20 odd years in development hell, but it’s been worth it for the near masterpiece that Zack Snyder has produced.

And there’s plenty of glowing blue cock.
