So, somehow I put together only 5 films I am looking forward to in 2014. Even as I write this article, I’m thinking about all the films I’ve missed. But without further or do, here it is.
Guardians of the Galaxy
When the after credits for Thor 2 rolled up and the screen was graced with the Collector, my heart literally skipped a beat. A clan of heroes often overlooked in the mainstream, the Guardians, I believe will be Marvels dark horse. With a fantastic cast that includes Bradley Cooper voicing a cockney raccoon, I cannot comprehend this being anything other than awesome!
Tusk
Being an avid Kevin Smith fan, I am excited at the prospect of him sitting back in the directors chair. Considering how many different projects he has been working on, it’s nice to see a finished product. This will be Smith’s second journey into the world of horror, this time once again tackling a story completely out of the ordinary.
X-Men: Days of Future Past
This is literally like the coming together to of worlds. For some, this comparison could be a bit much, but not for me. Bryan Singer is returning, all the old cast, what more can I say than that.
The Monument Men
Already creating Oscar buzz, Monument Men is George Clooney’s latest writing and directorial effort and I for one am very excited. With an amazing cast, most importantly the legend that is Bill Murray, it promises to bring some life to a subject otherwise left for the history buffs. Based on true events, which many will not realize, the story follows a small platoon of soldiers being sent in Germany in World War II from orders of Roosevelt, with the aim of recovering artistic masterpieces from behind enemy lines. To be honest, if George Clooney’s other efforts are anything to go by, this will be one to watch, following the increasing trend of actors moving behind the camera.
The Lego Movie
If anyone has seen the trailer for the Lego Movie they will realized why this is a film I am most looking forward to in 2014. Involving the likes of Will Arnett as Batman and Cobie Smoulders as Wonderwoman, on the surface it would seem like a Lego version of the Justice League movie, but no. The lego movie follows the character of Emmett, voiced by Chris Pratt as he tries to, basically save the world! What’s not to love?
