    OBVIOUS CHILD Trailer

Refreshing, honest, relatable and hilarious, OBVIOUS CHILD is a comedy like no other. Following one woman’s haphazard journey through her late twenties, the film lands in cinemas across the UK from 29th August 2014 through Koch Media.

OBVIOUS CHILD is the story of unapologetic Brooklyn comedian Donna Stern (Jenny Slate), a twenty-something loose cannon who gets dumped, fired and pregnant in quick succession. Better at cracking jokes about her flatulence and the contents of her knickers in her weekly stand-up routine than doing her taxes, Donna has a lot of growing up to do. With her parents nudging her to take control of her life, Donna is forced to do just that when she falls pregnant following a one-night stand with clean-cut, sensible Max (Jake Lacy) – a guy not remotely her type – and decides to seek the choice most responsible to her future. With the support of her friends Nellie (Gaby Hoffmann) and Joey (Gabe Liedman), Donna learns how to be brave, honest and vulnerable in real life; not just on stage.

Directed by exciting debut filmmaker Gillian Robespierre and introducing an outstanding breakout performance from talented newcomer Jenny Slate (Parks and Recreation), OBVIOUS CHILD also features a great supporting cast including Jake Lacey (‘The Office’), Gaby Hoffmann (‘Girls’) and Gabe Liedman.

Benefitting from Kickstarter funding, OBVIOUS CHILD went down a storm on its debut at Sundance, gaining praise from audiences and critics alike, and has continued to pique interest on both sides of the pond. A unique and authentic perspective on what it is to be a modern woman, OBVIOUS CHILD is this summer’s unmissable comedy.

The film, directed by David Cronenberg and starring Julianne Moore, Robert Pattinson, Mia Wasikowska, John Cusack, Olivia Williams, Sarah Gadon, and Evan Bird, dramatically explores the demons of our celebrity obsessed society.

The Weiss family are an archetypical Hollywood dynasty – Dr Stafford Weiss (John Cusack) is a psychotherapist whose self-help books have made him a fortune. His wife Cristina (Olivia Williams) is the overbearing mom-ager of their thirteen-year old son, Benjie (Evan Bird), a prodigious child star fresh out of drug rehab and their estranged daughter Agatha (Mia Wasikowska) has recently been released from a psychiatric hospital. Agatha is now back in Hollywood making friends with a wannabe actor/writer limo driver named Jerome (Robert Pattinson) and with a new job as PA to one of Stafford’s clients – the neurotic and tempestuous actress Havana Segrand (Julianne Moore), whose dream of reprising her dead mother’s starring role from the 1960s is beginning to haunt her.

Released in UK cinemas from September 26 2014.
