May the force be with you, as Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker debuts at Number 1 on the Official Film Chart on digital downloads only.
In the latest episode of the legendary franchise, Rey, Finn and Poe Dameron are back leading the resistance against Kylo Ren and the First Order, as the evil Emperor Palpatine returns from the dead. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker enters with 181,000 digital download sales in its first week.
Last week’s Number 1 Jumanji: The Next Level is knocked to Number 2, while Sonic the Hedgehog – starring Ben Schwartz as Sonic and James Marsden as his new human best friend – holds its place at 3. Frozen 2 drops two places to Number 4.
A second brand new entry to this week’s chart, Blue Story debuts at Number 5. A feature-length adaptation of Rapman’s YouTube series, Blue Story is a tragic tale of friendship between two teenagers from opposing postcodes in South London.
The original Trolls drops one place to Number 6, and Knives Out is at Number 7 this week.
2011’s Easter adventure Hop bounces into the Top 10 for the first time at Number 8 – our second entry on this week’s chart featuring James Marsden teaming up with a CGI animal!
E.B. (Russell Brand), the Easter Bunny’s teenage son, reveals he doesn’t want to continue the family business – and runs away to LA to follow his dreams of becoming a drummer.

Basic Instinct (1992)
Basic Instinct is one of the most critically acclaimed erotic thriller films of 1992. Decades since its release, the movie directed by Joe Eszeterhas is one of the top murder mystery films of all times. The film revolves around a police detective called Nick Curran (played by Michael Douglas) who works hard towards investigating the brutal murder of a rich retired rock star, Johnny Boz. The film sees the detective get involved in a torrid, yet intense romantic relationship with the main suspect who is called Catherine Tramell (played by Sharon Stone). The film is packed with plot twists, romance, thrills, and excitement that film fans will love. Memento (2000)
Over the years Christopher Nolan has created many outstanding films such as Interstellar, The Dark Knight, Dunkirk, and Inception. Ranking third on ScreenRants, Every Christopher Nolan Movie Ranked, From Worst To Best list, Memento is one of his early films that is a must-watch. Released in 2000, Memento follows the story of Leonard Shelby (played by Guy Pearce), an insurance investigator with amnesia. His condition means that he has the inability to store recent memories. However, Leonard is trying to uncover the person who is responsible for murdering his wife, with no memory of what happened or any details of the culprit. As this mind-bending thriller story unravels in reverse order, it’s one of the top films to watch of all time, with a rating of 8.4 on IMDb.
Knives Out (2019)
Knives Out is a recent American murder mystery film directed by Rian Johnson (The Last Jedi, Looper). The film starts off when a rich crime novelist invites his family to Massachusetts for his 85th birthday party. The host, Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer), is found dead the next morning. The police are convinced that Harlan committed suicide, however, an anonymous person hires a private investigator to take the case. While doing his job, the detective makes some unwarranted discoveries about the family that eventually lead to the truth. This film is the ultimate ‘Whodunit’ drama and one of the most exciting murder mystery films of the last decade.
Gone Girl (2014)
Directed by David Fincher, Gone Girl is a 2014 American psychological thriller based on Gillian Flynn’s 2012 novel with the same name. The film follows a writing teacher Nick Dune (played by Ben Affleck) who comes home for his fifth wedding anniversary to find his wife missing. The mysterious disappearance of Amy Dunne (Rosamund Pike) receives press attention. Detectives, the press, and the public quickly become suspicious of her husband and he soon becomes one of the prime suspects in the case. Nick has to convince the whole city and his twin sister Margo of his innocence while trying to uncover the disappearance of his wife. This is one of the most highly accredited movies of all time, making more than $369 million in box office.
Ninja Warrior Edition: Bits & Pieces – Writer/Director Nika Fehmiu’s live-action short is a story about the American inability to connect. The film finds new profound relevance in the Covid era and time of self-isolation, as it touches on all the ways that we are disconnected in society and how we detrimentally prioritize ourselves above all else. It is a film that makes us re-examine ourselves in the most crucial of times. Look at Me will receive its world premiere at the Oscar-qualifying Tribeca Film Festival, which will now be shown online due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Ninja Warrior Edition: Bits & Pieces – Set in the small fictitious town of Tambury, the comedy-drama series follows Tony (Ricky Gervais), a writer for the local newspaper whose life is upended after his wife dies from cancer. In series 2, whilst still struggling with immense grief for his wife, we see Tony try to become a better friend to those around him. Each grappling with their own problems and only to be intensified by the looming threat of the local newspaper being shut down.
Long Lost stars Adam Weppler (The Cobblestone Corridor) as Seth, a young man invited to spend a long weekend at a Connecticut mansion with his long lost millionaire half-brother Richard (Nicholas Tucci, You’re Next) who, along with his enigmatic live-in girlfriend Abby (Catherine Corcoran, Terrifier), lead Seth down a psychosexual rabbit hole wherein luxury and temptation are intermingled with treachery and taboo.
Following the release of the documentary series everyone is talking about, TIGER KING: Murder, Mayhem and Madness, Netflix brings you THE TIGER KING AND I, a special after-show hosted by Tiger King superfan JOEL MCHALE. Joel interviews many of the main subjects from the series about their reactions to the show, as they bring fans deeper into the bizarre and amazing world of Tiger King. The colourful cast of characters will have a chance to tell their story directly, giving us inside info, opinions, and insight into the controversial, captivating series that has become a global sensation.

Michael Pinkney is a dog groomer living in a rat-infested Hollywood dive with dreams of a bigger creative life. His current ambition is to raise funding for an all-cat remake of Carrie. At home he makes what he refers to as “weird video art that nobody wants to watch”. One day on the job, he meets Cora the girl of his dreams. “When you’re cutting their nails, is it supposed to bleed that much?”, she asks, as he stares at her lovingly. Easily distracted, creatively in knots and now in some sort of love, Michael’s about to embark on a whole new dangerous trip.
In the anarchic town of Seaside, nowhere near the sea, puppeteers Judy and Punch are trying to resurrect their marionette show. The show is a hit due to Judy’s superior puppeteering, but Punch’s driving ambition and penchant for whisky lead to an inevitable tragedy that Judy must avenge.

Jumanji: The Next Level overtakes on digital downloads this week, notching up 97,000 sales in its second week. The previous reigning champion Frozen 2 drops to Number 2.
This week’s highest new entry is Sonic The Hedgehog, which speeds into Number 3 on digital downloads only. Starring Ben Schwartz as the eponymous hero alongside James Marsden and Jim Carrey, Sonic teams up with his new friend Tom (Marsden) to defend earth from the nefarious Dr. Robotnik (Carrey) in this family-friendly hit based upon the iconic Sega video game franchise.
The film’s home release was brought forward – having only been released in cinemas just over a month ago – following international lockdown in the wake of COVID-19. Another film new to this week’s Top 10 following the same decision is legal drama Just Mercy (9) starring Jamie Foxx & Michael B. Jordan.
At 4 it’s murder mystery Knives Out, while Trolls leaps to Number 5 following the release of Trolls World Tour on streaming services,Bloodshot drops to 6 and Le Mans ’66 lands at Number 7 this week. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Far From Home rebounds four places to Number 8, and Charlie’s Angels climbs one place to Number 10.

Frozen 2 breaks half a million sales as it is released on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD for the first time.
Clocking up 201,000 sales this week – 78% of which were on disc – the much-loved sequel sells 530,300 copies in just three weeks.
The week’s highest new entry is Jumanji: The Next Level, debuting at Number 2 on digital downloads only. The gang returns to rescue one of their own, braving new, unknown territories they’ve never been in order to escape the world’s most dangerous game.
Knives Out (3) and Bloodshot (4) hold onto their positions for a second week as Le Mans ‘66 drops three places to Number 5; DowntonAbbey: The Movie rebounds three places to Number 6; Rocketman returns to the Top 10 at Number 7, and Joaquin Phoenix’s Oscar-winning Joker lands at Number 8.
Nothing can stop Anna and Elsa as they make another Chart appearance as the double pack of Frozen and Frozen 2 makes its debut at Number 9, and finally, musical family adventure Trolls enters the Top 10 just as its sequel, Trolls: World Tour becomes one of the first films to be available on digital stores early while cinemas are temporarily closed.
This week’s Official Film Chart features a behind the scenes look at BlueStory, with the film’s director and writer Rapman. BlueStory is available to Download & Keep via all digital stores from April 13.
