    Tenet Earns A Number 1 Debut

    Christopher Nolan’s time-bending epic Tenet debuts at Number 1 on the final Official Film Chart of 2020!

    Notching up 149,000 sales across disc and digital to outsell the rest of the Top 5 combined, the sci-fi action hit stars John David Washington as the ‘Protagonist’, a secret agent who manipulates time to prevent World War III. Robert Pattinson, Michael Caine, and Elizabeth Debicki also star.

    Flying 15 places, Roald Dahl’s The Witches lands at Number 2 this week. The modern remake of the classic children’s book stars Anne Hathaway, Octavia Spencer and Stanley Tucci. Jim Carey’s The Grinch (2000) holds firm at Number 3, and Love Actually also freezes in place at Number 4. Elf’s three-week stint at Number 1 ends as it drops to Number 5.

    Falling a few places but holding on to a spot in the Top 10 are Last Christmas (6), Home Alone (7), The Polar Express (8), whileThe Muppet Christmas Carol (9).

    Finally, the 2018 animated version of The Grinch returns to the Top 10 after climbing one place to Number 10.

    This week’s Official Film Chart features a look at X-Men spin-off The New Mutants. The superhero horror starring Maisie Williams and Anna Taylor-Joy is available to Download & Keep from December 28.

    Netflix have released their The Look: Featurette which gives you a behind the scenes glimpse into building the world of THE PROM. The film is out now in select cinemas and on Netflix.

    Elf Scoops A Third Number 1

    It’s three sweet weeks at Number 1 for Elf as the film continues to prove itself as the nation’s festive favourite ahead of Christmas celebrations next week.

    With 75% of its tally made up of digital sales, Elf finishes comfortably ahead of its closest competition and last week’s runner-up, Last Christmas (2), which is this week’s biggest seller on DVD and Blu-ray. Fellow festive films also holding firm to their places are non-movers The Grinch (3) and Love Actually (4).

    Kevin McAllister sneaks up one place to Number 5 in Home AloneThe Polar Express trundles up one to Number 6, and Mulan is down two places to 7. Brian Henson’s 1992 hit The Muppet Christmas Carol makes its merry way all the way to Number 8, reaching a brand-new peak and entering the Top 10 for the first time ever.

    Home Alone 2: Lost In New York also flies up 20 places into the Top 10 for the first time, landing a new high position of Number 9. Finally, Frozen 2 climbs three places to round off this week’s countdown at Number 10.

    On this week’s Official Film Chart, take a look at sci-fi martial arts adventure Jiu Jitsu, starring Alain Moussi and Nicholas Cage. Adapted from the popular 2017 comic book, the film is available to Download & Keep from December 21.

    Writer/director Chad Hartigan is best known for his award-winning feature films THIS IS MARTIN BONNER and MORRIS FROM AMERICA. Hartigan won the John Cassavetes Award at the 2014 Independent Spirit Awards, as well as the “Best of NEXT” Audience Award at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, for THIS IS MARTIN BONNER. Hartigan won the Waldo Scott Screenwriter Award at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival for his film MORRIS FROM AMERICA.  LITTLE FISH marks the third collaboration between childhood friends Hartigan, composer Keegan Dewitt (HEARTS BEAT LOUD) and cinematographer Sean McElwee (THE INCREDIBLE JESSICA JAMES). Based on Aja Gabel’s short story, the film is written by up and coming screenwriter Mattson Tomlin who co-wrote the latest Batman film, THE BATMAN, and wrote the Netflix hit PROJECT POWER.

    David Byrne’s American Utopia is available on Digital Download on 14th December and DVD on 11th January.
