    The Electric State: Trailer Talk.

On top of sequels and remakes, adaptations are also a subgenre that the film industry is very familiar with. And, while there have been some great adaptations of books, there are also ones that completely miss the point of its source material.

‘The Electric State’ stars Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World) and Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things) as they search for her younger brother in a world where technology and androids have advanced past humanity’s capabilities.

This trailer is an example of the adaptation being so far apart from the source material that it’s the complete opposite of what its supposedly based off. The film is ‘based’ off a book by Simon Stålenhag, which is a slow-paced journey involving a girl and her droid as they travel through a dystopian world. The film, however, looks to be a fast-paced, action packed adventure featuring humour reminiscent of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’. After loving the book, it’s such a shame to see what it’s become in film form. It seems that Stålenhag himself isn’t happy with the film either, as his name isn’t present in the trailer at all.

‘The Electric State’ has a great cast and is directed by The Russo Brothers (Avengers: Endgame). However, its biggest issue is that it’s adapted from a source material that’s the complete opposite of this. If the film had been given a different title, thus separating itself from the book of the same name, I’m sure there would be less backlash. But, as it stands, if you’re going to watch the film, don’t purchase the book beforehand. But I’d also tell you to just read the book and ignore this film’s existence.

    Werewolves: Trailer Talk

What would happen if ‘The Purge’ and 2009’s ‘Daybreakers’ was put into a blender, but replaced the vampires with werewolves? Well, you’d get the upcoming action-horror film ‘Werewolves’!

‘Werewolves’ sees a group of humans try to survive the night of a full moon after most of the world’s population have received the werewolf curse by a supermoon the year before.

While vampires, zombies and other monsters have their fair share of horror films, werewolf films are few and far between, so it’s great to see a new one being released at the end of the year. And it has a really unique and cool premise. Plus, the designs of the werewolves themselves look great, and reminiscent of the ones in 2004’s ‘Van Helsing’, which also featured a fantastic design. I’m intrigued to know how the transformation scenes will be executed, as well as the logistics of a world where the majority of people are now werewolves.

‘Werewolves’ looks really fun and unique. With this being an action-horror, it has the opportunity to contain some creepy scenes as well as some enjoyable action sequences. Hopefully the film includes aspects of world-building as that would be interesting to see. Werewolf films don’t come around often, but I’m glad that this one is fast approaching.

Squid Game 2 (Trailer 1) – Trailer Talk

Back in August, I wrote about the announcement trailer for the second season of ‘Squid Game’ and, earlier this week, a full trailer was released.

‘Squid Game 2’ sees the return of Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae – Deliver Us From Evil) as he deliberately places himself back on the island as a Squid Game player.

Considering the first season’s ending, I was intrigued to see how the show would continue, as it doesn’t tie up all the loose ends by the finale. Therefore, I’m hoping this series will continue to follow those plot points.

The most interesting aspect that the trailer has demonstrated is Gi-hun’s return, this time with the knowledge of his experience. This means that there will inevitably be scenes of him warning other players not to participate, as well as him advising them on how to play certain recognizable games. And it does seem like a lot of the games featured in Season 1 will return, something that I’m unsure of. With a new season, it would be interesting to see some different games, not only to make it new for the audience but also new and challenging for Gi-hun.

Now that more plot details have been revealed about the second season, my interest has peaked even more so than before. Not only does certain plot points need to be continued, but I’m hoping the show will offer some new games for the players and audience.

    Love Hurts: Trailer Talk

‘Love Hurts’ follows a realtor as he is forced back into the life, he thought he’d left behind after his former partner-in-crime resurfaces.

It’s always nice to see an original film appear unexpectedly and this is one of them. The action film is produced by the same team that made ‘Violent Night’ and ‘Nobody’, both of which are fantastic films in the same genre. And the action scenes look really fun and feel inspired by older Jackie Chan movies.

But the trailer for ‘Love Hurts’ stands out to me not just because of the plot or the action sequences, but because Ke Huy Quan is playing the realtor in question. It was a delight to see him return to acting in 2022’s ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ and I look forward to seeing him in a lead role. Plus, with his work in the stunt department for so long, I’m interested to see what stunts the film will carry out.

Not only does ‘Love Hurts’ have a strong lead actor and team behind it, but it also looks enjoyable with some fun-looking action scenes.

Love Hurts is an upcoming American action comedy film directed by Jonathan Eusebio, in his directorial debut, and written by Matthew Murray, Josh Stoddard and Luke Passmore. It stars Ke Huy QuanAriana DeBoseDaniel WuMarshawn LynchMustafa ShakirLio TiptonRhys DarbyAndré Eriksen, and Sean Astin.

BRWC’s Megan Needs Your Help CAN YOU HELP?

My sister desperately needs help getting her cats back home from Thailand. Due to her mental health, she had to move back home and, unfortunately, the cats weren’t flight ready at the time. However, this does now mean that she’s being asked to pay out a lot of money to get them back here and it’s an unexpectedly huge amount. More information is on her JustGiving page.

It’s extremely important that they come home not just because they’re her family, but they’re also her emotional support animals for her PTSD, Anxiety and Depression. Any donation amount would be greatly appreciated but, if you can’t donate, please share the Justgiving link around.

    Thank you so much!
