Captain America: Brave New World – Trailer Talk

It’s been 3 years since fans saw the reveal of the MCU’s new Captain America, but the first trailer for ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is finally here.

‘Captain America: Brave New World’ stars Anthony Mackie (Twisted Metal, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) as Sam Wilson, aka Falcon, as he takes on the role of Captain America and finds himself in the middle of an international incident.

When I reviewed ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ back in 2021, I commented on the finale episode saying that Sam was a perfect fit for the Captain America role, given his personality and morales. This, and the suit being a mixture of his Falcon wing technology and the original suit were fantastic, and I still stand by those thoughts. And, while the look of the suit has been changed a little for the feature film, it still looks amazing. Furthermore, I am looking forward to finally seeing Sam become Captain America.

But another aspect to be excited for is the introduction of Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross. Played by Harrison Ford (Star Wars, Indiana Jones), he’s introduced in the trailer as an authoritarian figure. But comics fans will know the character more as the Red Hulk, a character that is deemed more a villain/anti-hero than a hero. This addition interests me because it demonstrates that Marvel is once again branching out to put their more obscure characters onscreen.

Despite not being very impressed with the MCU’s work in the last couple of years, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is one film that I’m looking forward to from the studio. I’m not sure why this film took so long to get off the ground (pun intended), but I’m happy that it’s finally happening with a brand-new Captain America that is deserving of that role. Plus, the addition of the Red Hulk means that Marvel is still happy to include more obscure characters onscreen; let’s hope the writing is of a decent quality compared to their films and shows in the last couple of years!

Megan’s taste in films are interesting: her favourite films are ‘Space Jam’, Studio Ghibli’s ‘The Cat Returns’, as well as horror films ‘Saw’, ‘Drag Me To Hell’ and ‘Ju-On: The Grudge’. When she’s not watching films, she’ll be spending precious hours playing ‘Crash Bandicoot’.
