Trap: Trailer Talk

Despite not enjoying all his films, I have a lot of respect for M. Night. Shymalan and the ideas that he comes up with. Therefore, I’ll always look forward to whatever he’ll create next, and his latest feature is no exception.

‘Trap’ stars Josh Hartnett as a father who takes his daughter to a concert, only to find out it’s an elaborate trap to capture a well-known killer.

Surprises are to be expected with Shymalan by now and, straight away, this trailer has a few. It’s great to see Shymalan once again create a film that isn’t supernatural or contain any elements within that subgenre. Plus, at a first glance, it seems that the film has a simple premise with the implication that the father is the killer himself. But this is M. Night. Shymalan, so a twist is sure to be present, that will change what is shown in the trailer!

Furthermore, it’s a delight to see Josh Hartnett returning to the big screen. The last film I saw him in was 2007’s ‘30 Days of Night’ and he’s a fantastic actor, so it’ll be exciting to see him act once again, especially in a role like this.

M. Night. Shymalan is always a filmmaker that I will have time for, and ‘Trap’ is no exception. It’s wonderful to see Josh Hartnett returning and the premise, on the surface, looks simple but intriguing. While the execution of Shymalan’s films aren’t always perfect, the ideas themselves are always interesting or unique and ‘Trap’ falls into both categories, making this a film to look out for.
