Suspicious – Niccolò Dallerba Interview
Niccolò Dallerba was born in the romantic city of Florence in Italy. He began his journey in entertainment as an actor in Italy, and now years later lives in Los Angeles to continue his career in the entertainment capitol.
From impressive stage productions to blockbuster movies, BRWC caught up with Niccolò to talk life in Los Angeles and his upcoming movie ‘Suspicious’.
Thanks for taking the time to chat with us. Tell us a bit about yourself.
Hello! I started my acting career in Italy at a young age.
What can you tell us about the new movie ‘Suspicious?’ – although the title is a giveaway!
Ha yes, so ‘Suspicious’ is a thriller that I shot in my hometown of Florence. It starts as a love story with a couple who are very much in love. However, after a few fights their romantic story takes a twisted downhill journey with dramatic events.
What character do you play and what are some of his traits?
I play the lead character in the movie, a wealthy man who is charming and humble but at the same time is jealous to the point of questioning his real love, maybe. It was a very emotional and mood driven character to portray, with a lot of ups and downs. He is quite tormented by his love and seems to experience a lot of conflict, which as an actor is brilliant because I get to use my acting ability to the max.
Filming in Florence must have been incredible!
Yes absolutely. Using the backdrop of Florence brought out so much of Italy’s stunning architecture and history. Add that to having the lead role in my hometown was every bit more special to me. I hope that people will get fascinated with the story and the characters.
From Florence to Hollywood, how have you found that transition?
Yes I must say that the transition wasn’t super easy for me, and it takes time to understand the culture, language, and the business itself. However, after a while I was pretty comfortable and love it in Los Angeles. I attended the prestigious New York Film Academy, which gave me an excellent foundation. I started doing few semesters in Florence and because I liked it so much I changed the program for one year conservatory here in Los Angeles, which was an amazing experience and a life change. Now I am working hard as an actor in the City of Angels!
Are there any creature comforts you miss?
There are so many things that I miss from Italy other than my family and friends, more than I can admit. There are many small things and details that I miss like favorite spots in my hometown and places where I used to go. I love the culture and the architecture and mostly the amazing food that you can find everywhere. Florence is breathtaking, almost like fairy tale. You should visit and tell them Niccolò Dallerba sent you!
