The House with a Clock in Its Walls works its magic to debut at Number 1 on this week’s Official Film Chart. Seeing off all competition on digital downloads alone, the fantastical film starring Jack Black and Cate Blanchett crosses the finish line ahead of its closest competitor by 10,000 sales.
Jumping straight in at Number 2 is the terrifying fifth instalment of The Conjuring series, The Nun, pushing last week’s Number 1 The Predator down to Number 3. Meanwhile, M. Night Shyamalan’s superhero thriller Unbreakable climbs four places to Number 4 following the theatrical release of the third instalment of his trilogy, Glass.
There’s another new entry at Number 5, British crime film King Of Thieves. Based on the 2015 Hatton Garden Safe Deposit burglary, a retired group of thieves pull off one final heist, but things begin to fall apart when cracks start to show in the group.
The Greatest Showman (6) and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (7) are both making a song and dance in the Top 10 for another week; Anna Kendrick comedy-thriller A Simple Favour makes its debut at Number 8, while Mission: Impossible – Fallout tumbles to Number 9. Finally, Marvel’s light-hearted escapade Ant-Man And The Wasp is at 10.
This week’s Official Film Chart online show features a teaser of Tom Hardy in Venom, out on Digital Download January 26, and disc February 4.
