Swimming With Men Gets In Sync

Synchronised swimming is underway in pools across London, Hertfordshire and Essex as principal photography begins on major British production SWIMMING WITH MEN. The film is directed by Oliver Parker (Dad’s Army, Johnny English Reborn) from Aschlin Ditta’s (Scenes of a Sexual Nature, The Catherine Tate Show) screenplay, inspired by the original acclaimed documentary Men Who Swim.

National treasure Rob Brydon (The Trip, The Huntsman: Winter’s War) leads an all-star ensemble cast, which includes Adeel Akhtar (Four Lions, The Night Manager), Jim Carter (Downton Abbey, My Week with Marilyn), Rupert Graves (Sherlock, Last Tango in Halifax), Daniel Mays (Rogue One, Line of Duty), Charlotte Riley (London Has Fallen, Peaky Blinders), Thomas Turgoose (This is England, Somers Town), Nathaniel Parker (Stardust, The Inspector Lynley Mysteries) and BAFTA and Golden Globe nominee Jane Horrocks (Little Voice, Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie).

SWIMMING WITH MEN is a heart-warming comedy about a man in the throes of a mid-life crisis who finds meaning in the most unlikely of places: an all-male, middle-aged, amateur synchronised swimming team.

At the heart of the story is Eric, a 40-something stuck in a rut. With his marriage in tatters and his life generally going to pieces, Eric finds unexpected refuge in the company of a motley crew of middle-aged, slightly saggy men, who meet up once a week at the local municipal pool literally and figuratively to tread water together.

Eric slowly realises that there’s strength in numbers, and that if this unlikely band of misfits can become a real team they might just have a shot at winning the Unofficial Male Synch-Swimming World Championships – and maybe even at turning their lives around.
