Based on the novel by Kaui Hart Hemmings, The Descendants stars George Clooney as Matt King, an attorney from a wealthy family. When his wife is involved in a boat accident and ends up in a coma, he’s forced to care for his troubled teenager (Shailene Woodley) and younger daughter (Amara Miller), all while attempting to deal with family debts. The film features a captivating father-daughter relationship as they struggle to see eye-to-eye, and tells the story of grief from both sides. The Academy Award-nominated film features an impressive debut from Woodley and perceptive writing by the film’s director Alexander Payne.
