Pierce Brosnan is renowned world-wide for his impeccable good-looks and charm. From hard hitting action films to romantic comedies, his versatility on screen sets him apart. In celebration of the release of his recent film, Lessons in Love, on DVD, Blu-ray, and digital platforms from November 9^th, 2015, we are going to take a look back at the films that have made Pierce Brosnan one of the most well-known names on the big screen.

Lessons in Love

Lessons in Love is a romantic comedy full of twists and turns. Brosnan plays the highly successful Cambridge romantics professor, Richard Haig, who spends his time out of class charming his beautiful undergraduate students. When his student and girlfriend, Kate (Jessica Alba), reveals she is pregnant he decides to settle down, marry her and follow her to Los Angeles to begin a life together. However in the process he meets Kate’s older sister, Olivia (Selma Hayek)… who he just can’t seem to get out of his head. As the story unfolds, the trials of a successful relationship are revealed and the lessons of love are learned.

Goldeneye

In 1995, Brosnan hit the big screen as James Bond in the seventeenth film in the Bond series, Goldeneye. Trust is compromised when Bond’s partner, Alec Trevelyan (Agent 006), turns to enemy. Trevelyan takes possession of a satellite system that has the power to destroy the earth. Bond fights to take down his former friend and literally save the world. Brosnan went on to star in three more Bond films with Die Another Day earning an incredible £31 million in 1999.

The Matador

An unlikely friendship between a salesman and contract killer is developed in a Mexican dive bar when Danny Wright (Greg Kinnear), a father grieving the loss of his child whilst working through a shaky marriage, meets hit-man Julian Noble (Brosnan). Although, Julian is reaching immortality in his career, a midlife crisis causes him to freeze on the job. Danny assumed their friendship would end after the trip, but he was proved wrong when Julian arrived at the door of his home with a request far greater than he could ever imagine. Their friendship is put to the test when Julian asks for a favour of epic proportions.

Mrs. Doubtfire

When Daniel Hillard (Robin Williams) and his wife, Miranda (Sally Field), split up, Daniel—with the help of his brother, a lot of makeup and prosthetics—becomes his own children’s nanny, Mrs. Doubtfire. When things can’t seem to get worse his estranged wife welcomes a new man into her life, the handsome and charming Stu (Brosnan). Although Robin Williams steals the show, Brosnan’s performance as Stu adds a new dynamic to the storyline. His character is the textbook definition of an ex-husbands worst nightmare: handsome, charming, fit and British.

The Ghost Writer

A ghostwriter known as ‘The Ghost’ (Ewan McGregor) agrees to complete the memoirs of England’s former Prime Minister, Adam Lang (Brosnan) who has retired with his family in America. The Ghost begins uncovering information on Lang that suggests scandal and potential murder.

Mister Johnson

Brosnan plays Harry Rudbeck, the head of the English colonial offices in 1920s Africa with the dream of building a great road into the wilderness. Young, black accountant, Mister Johnson (Maynard Eziashi), lands a job at Rudbeck’s company, but his race prevents him from gaining a promotion. Mister Johnson pulls a stunt in attempt to impress his boss and save the company money. When the plan doesn’t play out as planned, Mister Johnson digs himself into a deeper hole of illegal issues in attempt to get ahead.

Mamma Mia

Mamma Mia tells the twisted, musical story of Donna (Meryl Streep) in her quest to find the true father of her daughter, Sophie (Amanda Seyfried), to walk her down the aisle on her wedding day. Brosnan arrives as one of the three potential fathers attending the festivities for the upcoming wedding, but it isn’t just Sophie who is finding the true meaning of a happy ending.

Love is All You Need

Philip (Brosnan) heads to Italy to attend his son’s wedding, when he runs into Ida (Trine Dyrholm), the bride’s mother and a quick attraction is developed. The wedding is eventually called off when the young couple realises they are in fact not right for each other, but the attraction between their parents only continues to grow stronger.

Dante’s Peak

When Volcanologist Harry Dalton (Brosnan) and Mayor Rachel Wando (Linda Hamilton) finally convince the people of their town the volcano is about to erupt, they discover Rachel’s two children have gone up the mountain to retrieve their grandmother. Harry and Rachel quest to save their lives as well as beat the clock to the eruption stronger than an atomic bomb.
