Held on Feb. 22, the 2015 Academy Awards were hosted by a triumphant Neil Patrick Harris in Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre. Twenty-four awards were presented to some of the best filmmaking talent of 2014. The competition for Best Actor/Actress and Best Supporting Actor/Actress this year was fierce. Let’s take a look at the winners and see what projects they’ll be involved with in 2015.

This year’s Academy Award for Best Actor went to Eddie Redmayne, who’s been lauded by critics and audiences for his performance as Steven Hawking in The Theory of Everything. Redmayne, who has appeared in other films such as The Other Boleyn Girl and Jupiter Ascending, is taking on another role in the historical drama The Danish Girl, set to be released at the end of November this year. Redmayne stars as the Danish artist Lili Elbe in a story based on real events that explores Elbe’s transgender identity and her transition from male to female.

Best Actress: Julianne Moore

Moore took home the Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of Dr. Alice Howard in Still Alice, a drama written and directed by Richard Glatzar and Wash Westermoreland and based on the 2007 novel of the same name written by Lisa Genova.

In 2015 Julianne will be featured in a film called Freeheld directed by Peter Sollett and written by Ron Nyswaner. Other stars include Ellen Page, Steve Carrel, Luke Grimes and Michael Shannon. The movie is based on the true story of Laurel Hester (Moore), a police officer based in New Jersey. After being diagnosed with lung cancer, Hester struggles with the legal system to ensure that her pension benefits will be given to her domestic partner Stacie Andrews (Page) after her death. This film was picked up by Lionsgate in February and should hit theaters later this year.

Best Supporting Actor: J.K. Simmons

Simmons received the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for his work in Whiplash as the stern music instructor Terrence Fletcher. Well-known for his roles in Thank You For Smoking, Juno and Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, Simmons will be staring in the fifth film of the Terminator franchise, Terminator Genisys, as an alcoholic detective who’s following a case that involves Sarah Connor. This film is said to “reset” the franchise due to time travel undertaken by the main characters, so the filmmakers will have freedom to create an entirely new Terminator universe. Two sequels are planned, the second for May 2017 and the third for June 2018, although it has not been be announced whether Simmons will be involved with these movies.

Best Supporting Actress: Patricia Arquette

The Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress was given to Arquette for her role of Olivia Evans in the highly acclaimed 2014 film Boyhood, written and directed by Richard Linklater. Starting her career in 1987 with Chuck Russel’s A Nightmare on Elm Street, Arquette has starred in other films such as David Lynch’s Lost Highway and the Disney film Holes.

In 2015, Arquette will be featured as Special Agent Avery Ryan in a new CSI spinoff called CSI: Cyber. Ryan is a cyberpyschologist who watches over the dark side of the Internet to solve cases that “start in the mind, live online and play out in the real world,” which is the show’s unofficial tagline. One of the show’s main premises is to explore cases that are relatively new to the digital age, so viewers can be exposed to technological concepts and dangers they may be unaware of. CSI: Cyber premiered on Wednesday, March 4 on CBS and airs every Wednesday at 10 p.m. (9 Central). If you don’t have cable, you can always sign up for a service like Dish to catch all your favorite shows online.
