Salty: World 1st Film Investment Gets Greenlit

  • NEWS

Today saw the completion of a £10 million funding project for a new major Hollywood film entitled ‘Salty’, from leading director Simon West. £1.8 million of this has been raised via UK equity crowdfunding platform SyndicateRoom.  This marks the very first time anywhere in the world that investors, from as little as £1,000, will participate directly in any profits made by a major Hollywood production.

The £1.8 million raised has come from a combination of film enthusiasts who will own their slice of the movie, proportionate to the amount they have invested. Although the initial fundraising target was reached on the 14th March, the website and investment opportunity remains open on the same terms until midnight on 21st March. Further details can be found here www.syndicateroom.com/salty

The film is the brainchild of Hollywood billion-dollar director Simon West, whose track record includes ConAir, Tomb Raider, The General’s Daughter, Expendables 2, When a Stranger Calls and The Mechanic.  West is excited by the films’ broad commercial appeal, combining slick writing with exhilarating action, comedy and adventure. Described by the director as ‘The Hangover meets Get Him To The Greek.’

Salty having achieved its target is now slated to shoot later this year and the producers are in talks to secure an A-list cast.

Simon West said:

“I am delighted to have achieved this “world first” by selling shares in my upcoming film directly to investors, the movie going fans themselves. Now it’s up to me to make a great film and repay their support with great returns!”
